Never had a block heater with anything but a diesel, due to the much higher compression and drain on the starter.

I honestly do not see the need for a block heater south of I90. If these vehicles had carburetors and automatic not manual chokes I might sing a different tune but instant start at 9 degrees I do not miss the option. I can't live without the butt heater, though

A block heater, however, is far better than an oil pan or dipstick heater, which will boil off teh good part of oil and leave the sludge behind

I had mine fall out on my F 150 at midnight halfway to Vegas with no cell service and 2 year old in the truck . Got a tow then in the morning bought a rubber freeze plug installed it and continued on our trip . Bought the factory one after the trip . I never used it so I never reinstalled the silicone orange cable. I believe the cable swayed back and forth and it to fall out or the center set screw just came loose. I pulled over to the side of the road at midnight to pea and it fell out .coolant everywhere. Stranded.

Anyone order their Bronco with the block heater? I haven't seen anyone comment on it effecting their ordering process (delay?), nor the use of good/bad. I included it on my order because...well I ordered what I wanted. From the days of having a Cummins, it sure was nice to have your engine start up with warm coolant.

I'll probably drop it though. I could see it as a constraint that isn't discussed because so few people order it. Ford has worn me down enough that I'm gradually stripping away items that are wants.
I think you may have answered your question right there my Tar Heel brother. I really don't see it being a constraint as it is an as needed item. Most don't need it, but it's there for those that do. Plus, John at SAC (I think his name is John) has been very good at keeping his customers updated on things like this. I'm with Granger, and Zach has never mentioned the block heater as a constraint.

I hear you. I had a stray thought about it possibly being an unmentioned constraint, which is why I was looking for feedback from folks that have included it. I'm going to leave it as-is. Yes John has been good all the way around. I hate it that allocations are kicking some of these dealers in the teeth.

Won't affect your order. Under factory warranty and cheap if ordered now. I have one and may never use it, but it's there if needed and it won't get cheaper to do after the fact nor be covered under warranty.

Ford is ridiculous. Do they seriously think people like spending extra time in the cold fiddling with their hood? If it's cold enough to plug in, then it's cold enough that I don't wanna be messing around. I just don't understand why they couldn't route a longer cord through one of the bumper openings.
Yeah, I was quite surprised to find it under the hood. All of the other Ford trucks I have owned or driven had the plug down in the front bumper. Not sure why they chose to put it where they did.

The block heater was not an option with my first order (2021). I did not notice when I re-ordered. Now Ford wants almost $400 for "replacement" parts.

It was a $100 option when I speced out my 21', ordered it on the 22' when the time came for $100.
