Got a Brake syetem error the other day as I was entering my bronco...even before I sat in the drivers seat my dash lit up. I've had message before when it was new...dealer looked at it and it went away so I wasn't too concerned about it. FF to yesterday...while driving I noticed my brakes were a little mushy while slowing down. Then I noticed the message on the dash "Brake Applied Power Reduced". Never saw that before. Here's where it gets scary...When I was parking...applying the brake...my engine revved unexpectedly and my bronco surged forward while my foot was on the brake. I kind of panicked and jammed it into Park. I still had my foot on the brake and the engine revved again. I looked down to make sure my foot wasnt on the wrong pedal and it wasnt. Scary.

Yes, I made an appointment with the dealer. Am afraid to drive it now. Can't find anything on here (via search) that sound similar to my experience.

I will update this post after I get it looked at but if you've had a similar experince, please chime in. Google search turns up lots of F150s with the error code but not Broncos. It's a 22 BB with 2.7. 63K miles.

A lot of people see this in 4Lo when the trans is trying to downshift. I wonder if it’s related. I think @SierraBronco did a lot of work with a tuner about it

It’s very common in 4L but I’ve never heard about it in 2/4H.

As far as the soft code “error”-it does come up in 2H when trying to use two footed driving. I wonder if something is up with the ABS module, assuming you weren’t applying both pedals at the same time.

That is crazy.
If you're only pressing the brake and no foot over the accelerator, it's somehow getting input to both pedals.
I only get that message when I'm intentionally screwing around, but it's expected when I do it.

A 2.7L 2022 with 61k miles.

Definitely following this thread.

Most likely a bad pedal position sensor, should be an easy fix.
if so, would that have caused engine reving/ torque being appliied? I guess so given it is throttle by wire…

I would take a good look under the dash at those pedals and mounts and see if anything looks amiss, for starters. Make sure there are no loose cables snaked around both pedals.

Also, did you have the brake boost failure recall?

I saw this error briefly on my 22 a few weeks ago while driving. All seemed fine function-wise and then it went away to not return, so far.

I’m pretty sure that I had that warning message when I tried left-foot-braking a couple of winters ago, I was screwing around in a snow-covered parking lot and Grubby didn’t like it… There are way too many nannies built into these vehicles!

The system believes you were pressing brake and gas at the same time, even if you weren’t. Dangerous situation if the throttle by wire is trying to accelerate without your input.
Get it towed.

Your reaction of throwing it in park wasn’t the best option, but better than running over someone. The brake will hold it even at full throttle. You can kill it with the start button. Understandably you were startled. As anyone would have been.

My brake on my 2.7 will not hold it at WOT.

That's interesting. I remember reading a few years back that since the Toyota overrun issues of the early oughts all manufacturers have designed and built their vehicles such that the brake will always hold at WOT.

Maybe all the mods we do throws that out the window :ROFLMAO:
