I usually use CarPlay and my phone for navigation, but this weekend used the on board nav and A couple of things stood out. The on board nav doesn’t silence the music, just lowers the volume and talks over it, I like that. Also when choosing a route it has a switch to let you enable 4X4 roads. Has anyone tried this feature? Also we compared side by side with my wife’s phone as we went through the mountains and dirt roads were on the map in the Bronco and not on the phone. Is this the initial replacement for parts of the Bronco trails app that was hard to use at best?

I keep all those nagging broads quiet.

I tried the trails app when it first came out. Neat novelty, never used it again. I tried firing it up recently for S&G and it didn't work. Uninstalled.

I was out this weekend, fired up Bronco Trail for a trail I had downloaded a few weeks ago.

And... get the "You must be logged in to use this", but I'm in an area with no cell service coverage, so ... busted. Which is funny, because I had opened it up not too long before to make sure I had the trail installed and to check the directions to the trailhead.

Thankfully I had OnX from a 7-day trail that had long since expired, it was running in Free mode, and it worked just fine. Apparently I just happened to be in the area where I had previously downloaded the offline map for, or it just magically worked or something, I don't know. But it worked.

Of course, as soon as we get down off the mountain for lunch, Bronco Trail loads up fine once I'm in cell range again.

Yeah, the only reason I'm keeping the Bronco Trail app now is for nostalgia I think. It seems to let me down when I would use it the most.

Now - as to if the built in Navigation would pick that up - no clue, I don't have built-in Nav, I run everything through Carplay.

Brian b - this is exactly why I wanted the built in Nav but its been dropped for my 24 Wildtrak on order. My F350 has built it nav but I always bring along my Garmin as well. In the canyons cell service can be spotty at best. When Jeepin I always had my Garmin gps, inreach and ham radio.

I actually like the on-board nav. It works well with sat sig and doesn’t need cell support. It seems to have pretty good map coverage so far as well. I can also get the weather updates without cell.
I have the Bronco trail app but haven’t spent enough time with it to learn.
I pretty much only use CarPlay when I want onX on the big screen. But, I also typically have a garmin, actual map and compass along.
Yes, I’m an engineer/geek.

Sounds like the OP is an iOS (CarPlay) user. If my memory serves, using Apple Maps or Waze for navigation via CarPlay will provide that same music volume modulation. Apple Maps will also provide similar levels of dash integration as the factory navigation. (e.g. seeing next step directions on the driver information center)

FWIW, I also enjoy the built-in navigation for daily non-highway driving. Nice to see different routes, upcoming turns, etc.

Is the Bronco Trail App even available anymore?

I use a Garmin Tread since 10 miles from my house I loose Cell Coverage.

I can't find it in the Apps on my iphone.............
Hmm! You're right. I already had it installed but looks to be gone from the Apple App Store.
