All of these bumper folks have been doing this a long time on lots of models. They absolutely should know better. I see no valid excuses. These products should only be sold with whatever is needed to exceed the limits of factory failure points. Exceed because folks who run these bumpers (sometimes...) tackle extreme terrain with heavy and modified vehicles. Also, it just makes design sense

I tire of this type of ongoing BS. That's why the company I'm starting (news and products coming here soon), will have as founding principle and part of the company name "Engineered".
Glad to see another getting in with more Bronco products.
Yes aftermarket off-road bumpers and winch use are not new. I started off-roading and modifying in the late 80’s, even at that time we knew we had to upgrade the frame mount points or they would tear off in heavy use.

I'm not sure why Bronco guys are surprised.... Just look how it is built. Tiny weld around the parameter on one side. Thin metal. It doesn't take an engineer. Fully expected to reinforce when adding weight or load.
If only somebody had sounded the alarm a couple years ago... Oh wait they did but the thread got locked and buried when a certain admin went on a power trip.

Get those reinforcements on before you play, it's a lot cheaper before the damage is done.

Mike I listened, thank you they have given me peace of mind. And I bet they saved me when I was winching out trees in my yard. I was anchored to a F150 and it pulled both rigs without bending my frame.

I believe most winch bumpers provide enough rigidity across the frame to use the winch without any trouble. Classic Broncos were notorius for their frame horns as well- even with just winching.

The shock load of a hard pull (even with a Kinetic rope) is just too much for those small welds even with the stock bolt plate spreading the load.. Of course some welds faired slightly better when the bolts pulled thru (aftermarket bolts).

This is a really poor design and as pointed out, Ford added their reinforcement kit when they offered a winch kit- they knew it wasn't designed for this.

I assume the factory hook spreads the load across the frame horn so well it doesn't separate. With more use, I bet we will see weld failures with the stock bumper as well.
