I watched a video on B6G describing the differences with the 3 bumpers offered by Ford for 22. Plastic(on the base), capable(steel), and Modular(steel). On the plastic video, someone puts on an aftermarket bumper and has to cut off with a saw the tow hooks because that bracket also holds up the intercooler. Can't find the video again but was wondering if the tow shackles on the Capable Bumper work the same or do they just have a bolt holding them on which would make it a simple bolt on for an aftermarket bumper. I ordered the capable bumper for my Badlands thinking that it would be an easy bolt off, bolt-on process. If anyone can help in this regard it would be much appreciated. A schematic of the Capable bumper and/or Modular would help. Thanks in advance.

Certainly someone at Ford can find the part numbers for the intercooler brackets without the tow hooks. These will be common collision parts, after all. I did see some information on line when I searched, but the illustrations were poor or missing. It looks like Ford does specify the brackets with or without steel/modular bumper.

Brackets I found were over $100 each, though, if they were the correct ones.

@Kimberley

Thanks for sharing the pictures. When time permits can we see a close-up picture of the license plate bracket taken from the side so we can see how the bracket was mounted. Thanks!

the screws are attached to the white part, they are the holes in the last picture where I Flipped up the temp plate.

Great looking BD. Is the skid plate on the capable bumper metal like the modular bumper?
Yes it does seem to be metal from knocking on it. the only part that seems to be plastic are the end portion of the part that wraps around the sides

Would you be so kind to take pics of the “shackles” of the capable bumper? Would like to see if there’s a pin that can be unscrewed or how those can be taken off.
(I’m thinking of painting them so hoping it’s an easy off and on.)
Thanks in advance!

Went with the capable bumper on my badlands due to the fogs, but I also like the look. Hopefully some aftermarket parts will be released for it at some point.

Hey when it warms up a little! Can you get some more front pictures of the capable bumper. As I have it ordered on my Badlands hoping there is a way to attach license plate bracket to skid plate but thinking may need to drill a hole... Thanks for the pics!

It does not look like you can take the shackle off unless once you take the bumper off there is way from the sides. The whole part behind the bumper looks like you could remove it altogether though. I have not tried taking it off yet, its been too cold and I need to drive this daily.

1. Has anyone seen an aftermarket fog light installed here (next to the factory fog)?

2. What is this? (Camera? Proximity Sensor?)

On the 12/20 Build group page page 324 there is a pic of a Badlands sas with the capable bumper and it has those sensors (?) on it.

I though I took one but apparently not, there are a couple screws in the skid plate but most likely you will have to drill holes. The location that my dealership put the plate is better than some i have seen and ever though I don't love it, there are not many other options that I like more yet so it will probably stay there for a while.
For me and what i use this for right now (daily driver) I am happy with the bumper. Once I start using it for more fun stuff over time I will want something with more modularity (thats a word right?) but I am sure the aftermarket will be booming by then.

FINALLY! Some real info on the capable bumper. I'm agreeing with everything others are saying on here. I want to purchase a bolt-on prerunner hoop as well. Thanks for all the pix @Kimberley !!📸
I will keep trying to take picks as weather and time permits. I really want to to get a better look underneath especially for replacing the shackles. On a good note I hit 17mpg today even with 4A on for a week and having to heat up everyday/night.

Yea, I wanna know if those aftermarket Gear America Tow Shackles will fit in place of OEM shackles?
