Not fairly easy but looks doable to a crackhead with the right tools. Cordless small saws all could get up in there.

Wait, are we talking about protecting them or just removing them?

It happens everywhere. On dealer lots, in home driveways, even in Target parking lots.

If the gummint revenoors would jest shut down the junk yards from bein able ta sale da platinum den thar woodn be no sech reasons ta lift dese offin our vehiculars

Seriously. If there was no black market for the contents of the converters then there would be no demand . Reputable recyclers have signs posted about only accepting them from someone with a specific scrapping license, for whatever that's worth.

RIP my '05 Tundra cat converters, both cut out in front of my home overnight nearly 2 weeks ago. $4,700 to replace (price escalated thanks to parts shortages, and sensors they cut out too).

It's still happening in plenty of locations, and now that it's happened once to me I'm quite nervous about it a) happening again before my BW6/27 gets here, and b) them getting the Bronco's cats after it gets here.

Judging from the other thread, it looks like new vehicles are much more inherently protected from these kinds of thefts.

Gotta watch out for your gas tanks now too...thieves are drilling holes in $1800 tanks to steal your $40 worth of gas.
