This is what my upr catch can captured in 600 miles on my 2.3 well worth the 250 bucks in my opinion. Also it's a quality product with factory style connectors no cutting and splicing. Almost 4 ounces.

Wow, that seems like a lot. Isn’t the capacity of the UPR can only 5 oz capacity? I have one but haven’t installed it yet, but if it fills up that fast I’ll need to order their drain kit for it so it’s easier to do between oil changes.

I can’t say I’ve ever seen new engine oil look like that or have that color let alone used oil. Hmmmm

Also, if you’re catching nearly 3.5 oz every 600 miles or so, what’s the point of an oil change? With the amount you lose, you’d have to top off the oil in the engine pretty often and you’d be emptying nearly brand new oil every 5000 miles.
If that really is your oil from your new Bronco and not one that’s 40 years old and sitting in the rain with the hood off, I’d recommend sending that oil off for analysis. It just looks fake to me, that’s all.

It's not just oil. It can also contain water vapor, weather makes a difference, and also could be some gas in there as well.

I was surprised when I opened it wouldn't have thought there was that much in there. But yeah it's probably 5oz or so.

Yeah it has a fuel smell for sure. Upr states there will be more in the colder months, I'm in western pa so just coming out of the winter months.

Not fake took it right out of the catch can and into the measuring cup. It is installed on my new bronco.

Have we concluded that either a catch can or an AOS is at all beneficial on the 2.7L V6?

Thanks.

I’ve had a catch can on my 2013 Focus ST since new, one on my 2.7 in my 2019 F150, and I installed one on my 2.3l. The winter emulsion collected is mainly condensed water, and fuel from the cold start. The oil blow by is the gunk at the bottom and is not that big a quantity. In the summer you’ll see what I mean.

I’ve noticed a big difference in my UPR over the past few months. Should I be dumping that orange milky stuff in winter or is the main concern the thick black stuff that’s been accumulating since it’s warmed up? I checked it today and it was a cold morning and it was solid at cold temps. Once I warmed it up a bit to dump it - it was pretty sludgy.

UPR recommends you dump it weekly or even daily during the cold months. I installed the drain line option with the drain valve where I can easily reach it. I find the need to drain it corresponds to how much use - sometimes i’ll go 2 weeks in the winter before draining. I park in a heated garage, though - you can risk damage to the catch can’s internals letting it freeze.

People who understand the injection system on the intake ports on the 2.7, also understand its not needed for the 2.7...those that don't understand still think it's needed or beneficial. Earlier f-150 versions of the 2.7 did not have the dual fuel injector technology installed and they DO benefit from the can.

False, would you please stop repeating this misinformation.

Yeah, I can see that drain line coming in handy. Might have to order one for next season.

I just switched to Motul oil after 10k with Motorcraft (changed at 2500 and 5000). Interested to see how it performs.
