As others have said the Matt’s Offroad video of the DV8 rig was sobering. Distance from the rail to load point will be a major concern.

I just haven't seen an aftermarket bumper I really liked yet.
It would be the Lobo winch bumper for me but I can't justify nearly 2k.

I don't think it would matter but maybe?

It miiight be just the plates. I won't know until it's apart.

Vivid Racing has the LoD brackets in stock, I just ordered a set.
I would tend to think the mounting brackets got stretched forward at top and pushed back at bottom. Or you tore the top welds at top. Unless you come up with a spreader bracket (frame rail to frame rail) you will continually have this happen. Only other real fix would be to gusset the top and bottom of mounting plates to strengthen them or completely fabricate the mounts by boxing them in. Which would probably require longer mounting bolts.

My winch just arrived, I’ll be choosing a mount soon. If the front frame horn plates are the weak point I would expect it doesn’t much matter if a mount on the mod bumper or a full bumper replacement. In addition to the LOD brackets it may require some additional triangulation to prevent the bend.

There used to be a blurb on their web site stating something to the effect those reinforcement brackets only fit their bumpers..I don't see it now so maybe I imagined it(shrug)

I found it.. however they dont say only for the LoD bumpers..well u can read it

The LoD brackets will certainly help with the plates but if I'm in there I might as well keep adding steel.

If it were me with this problem, I would discard the factory mounting plates, fabricate some fully boxed in 1/4" steel plates that would slide onto the frame horn stock location and fully weld in place front and back.

Triangulate each corner with a fully welded in gusset.

That would be solid. I think I'm going to bolt and stitch weld the LoD brackets to the frame as well as gusset the bend on them.

You can never really over do strengthening, (Well I guess you could). But gussets are your friend in these moments. Do you have a picture of these LOD brackets your speaking of? Never seen them or heard of them. Before I retired from the military, I would always go over to the engineering shop and fabricate my own stuff.
