Dealer said $1000 nonrefundable fee?

Spoke to dealer, planning on putting the order in Monday. Dealer said $1000 nonrefundable fee at order time. Anybody else hear about that?

I'm going Wednesday to place my order, I made sure to ask and they aren't requiring any additional money as a down payment.

$500 at my dealer and refundable. Why wouldn't they want to refund it? I flake out, get my $500 back and they get a Bronco for the lot. I don't intend to back out short of a major calamity.

$1k on two vehicles is reasonable, non-refundable, not so much.

If you have any hesitation, find a different dealer. They don't own you, or your reservation.

I order my bronco on the 20th with the dealership owner because he doesn’t allow anyone else access to place orders and we went back in to verify everything was how I wanted it yesterday. That’s 2 interactions in 2 days and never any mention of additional money for ordering and I asked him a month ago and he said no the $100 is all. So today the internet sales/ bronco sales rep brought out the order confirmation for me to sign so I did and she said and I just need $900. i told her about the previous conversation I had with the owner and her response was that’s gonna have to be between me and the owner. But she took the signed paper and left. There’s no way I’m doing a $900 non refundable deposit on a car I have no idea when I might see it.

I would switch dealers. Unless you're number 1 on the allocation list, they can't even guarantee you will get a MY 2021 bronco.

You are ordering a vehicle made to your specs, and my understanding is the dealership is penalized if you don’t purchase your vehicle after order (is that correct?)
A $1000 deposit seems pretty reasonable to me. My dealer is asking for a $3000 deposit, but that’s not an issue because I know I’m taking it home. If you’re unsure then you might want to try your luck elsewhere.

I want to order a 2021 Bronco and they cant tell me if I will get one?

Meh, I'll wait and get exactly what I want, when I want it. And two years from now, it may not be a Bronco.
