It’s like the old bow hunters argument they all hunt but to each there is only one way to do it but in reality they are all great ways to hunt.

I would like a diesel option. My two primary vehicles are both turbo diesels. It would be nice to add another. My 2016 F350 is about towing and durability. My ‘repaired by VW’ 2013 VW Jetta TDI has great low end and max torque for a 2.0l engine and even after the VW emissions mods gets 45mpg of country driving. Newer and European versions have greater power. A 3.0l Ford V6 turbo diesel would be a fantastic option. Should have great low-speed torque perfect for off-roading with good mileage and range.

Live in a free State where you can get rid of the smog equipment. There are still a few out there...2006 all over again!

I think the baby Powerstroke Ford made for the F-150 would have been a beast in this Bronco! I hate all the emissions crud I have to deal with on my F-250s but we can thank the tree huggers for that. My 2014 does not run any cleaner than my 2004 did. If you take care of your vehicle and maintain it properly you wont have thousands in repair bills! Ive owned a Powerstroke truck since 2003 and have yet to pay what some have said between all 4 trucks I've had! I do not baby my rigs either they were meant to be driven!

Tbh, I’m not sure you would notice the 40ft lbs difference between the diesel and the 2.7L, and the 2.7 has more HP. we have the PowerBoost in our new F150, I can tell you that combo is really Powerful.
Ford Bronco Diesel option anyone? 58E34BA3-B828-4F19-BCE5-77043D4208A6

Might consider it if I lived somewhere where it didn't get cold in the winter. All of the new diesel light duty trucks seem like they have nothing but reliability problems with all the DEF systems failing in the dead of winter where I live in Canada. Also diesel is a bit more expensive than gas here.
Diesel is more expensive in Oregon too, plus having to deal with DEF, we traded in our diesel on a new F150 Hybrid

Bought my first Ford diesel truck in the mid 90's and have owned half a dozen Ford/Navistar diesels trucks/Excursions since, and do any necessary work required myself. No way I would buy a small daily driver as a diesel with the current restrictions and requirements. It simply doesn't pay off imo. When you start putting the numbers together of mpg vs fuel cost vs maintenance vs up front diesel engine option cost it still takes forever to make up the difference over a simple gas engine. Add one major mechanical issue and you'll never make up that cost difference imo. Now, if it's just something you "want" go buy it, if it's something that we "need" offered in the US, then no.

I don’t want to see one, and one will never be offered.

Although I am not one for a diesel option, the peak numbers do not tell the true story and that is really not a fair comparison to go off of. The 3.0 Power Stroke is going to have more torque at a lower RPM and maintain that torque across a broader RPM.

I live in New Hampshire and we do have cold winters. I have an TDI Jetta and a 6.7 PowerStroke. No problems with either in the winter. The Jetta does not have DEF but the 6.7 does. 3.0l diesel would be a range extender for the Bronco and a low-speed torque monster.
