I'm strongly thinking about installing CLEAR CERAMIC TINT (%70 or higher) .....

- But I don't know if its all hype? does it actually work? do you actually feel cooler in the car by 10 or 20 degrees? thoughts?
I have the Xpel clear on my windshield and it absolutely works. Cuts out all the heat and saves your interior from fade. Make sure you go to a reputable shop that uses a quality film.

Yes. I get Llumar Air Blue 80 installed in most of my cars.

My Bronco has dark tint to help discourage thieves and to match the rear.

I have it on my F150 and I don't like it. It is supposed to be clear, but it is slightly purple tint to it.

It definitely works bud. I’d imagine a good percentage of Arizona drivers have it, including on the windshield.

Even if a bit darker, still blocks heat very well, but only clear on the windshield of course.
In AZ, and yes it makes a huge difference. I had mine tinted before I drove it off the lot. (dealer's price on ceramic was about $100 less than the independent shops.) Did max legal on the sides (35%) and took the rears down to 20%.

Tinting the actual windshield is illegal in AZ, (other than a top strip) but a lot of folks will do a clear ceramic tint and get away with it because it's honestly pretty hard to tell if the front has a clear tint and the cops don't care.

On Bronco the actual windshield is so small it probably doesn't matter nearly as much as a Mustang or F-150.

What don't you like about it besides the slight hue?

When I had mine installed, the shop had a display that had a heat lamp with various glasses with ceramic tint behind it to switch in behind the heat lamp. Noticeable difference with good ceramic tint. I did all of my windows with various darknesses of ceramic tint (legal limit on the 2 side doors, and darkest possible on the rest of the windows). Didn't opt for the clear stuff on the windshield here in Texas. My reasoning is that I use a reflective sun shield on the windshield when parked, and since our Broncos have notoriously vertical windshields, clear ceramic on it would likely be wasted with the first needed windshield replacement. Happy with my choice so far...

yes quality ceramic film will block heat. What I always tell clients is that if you park in the sun for 8 hours, when you get in it will still be hot. It’s more of a driving comfort. You wont feel the heat while your driving. Also great for if you have kids in the back it will block glare as well.

While your driving it will cool down faster and won’t have to blast the AC as much.

Autobahn is releasing the highest IR rejection window film soon on the 20th. Supposed to block 99% IR heat.

Right now we carry a multi layer ceramic that is great and our clients love it. I have it on my Bronco as well.

a quality ceramic film will have no low angle haze.

Same reasoning. I've already replaced one windshield, and the sun shield I bought with my points is very good.

70-80% vlt (visible light transmission) is good choice for the windshield, not so dark to where it's hard to see out at night almost invisible during the day and cuts a lot of heat out. The ceramic nanotechnology offers a higher infrared heat rejection over your traditional dyed films or metalized. But for side windows you might consider going darker depending on state laws

Ceramic tint can reject the most heat for a non-metallic film. You can get heavier metallic films but they are darker and cell phone or any radio inside the vehicle will suffer.
Ceramic Tints pass RF Frequencies so no additional decrease in signal is caused by ceramic tints.

I live in Northern MT. We have maybe 5-7 days over 85 degrees. Is it still worth it? Does it block UV rays?

I live in southern oregon, we get about 300 days of sun per year and not many of those are 90+. It helps a ton especially if the vehicle sits during the day in the hot sun. It was one of the first mods I did and took care of all windows and windshield.
