Fuel fill NEEDS to be extended to side of vehicle. In its current location any spillage from refueling ends up IN the racer.

Hopefully the spare carrier has room for two.

I’m on the race team as a chase/support crew member.
Are you at SEMA by chance?

I was checking this thing out this morning and was really impressed. Totally stoked to finally see a manual transmission at all, but especially on such a cool build.

2 things I see that I believe should be considered. The adjusters for the lower control arms should be locked into place better than stock. I saw a kit from someone (can’t remember who) that does this. And the upper mounts need the added tabs to be double sheer. Very cool truck.

Is it normal not to run protection underneath for a Baja truck? I assume the weight slows you down too much?

All those classic lines and heritage captured from the original 2-door (as God intended it to be). And a proper manual transmission to boot. Anybody else getting wondering if these specialty and concept teasers capitalize on these enduring configurations so they can bait-and-switch us later into 4-door automatic variants?

You can bet on it.

I'm starting to wonder if Ford only made the two door for that reason? If they had tried just 4 doors there might have been a bunch of criticism of Ford just trying to cash in on the name. Seems like the 2 door is slowly being whittled down.

I really like what's done...minimal lift, maintaining some OEM suspension and steering components...adding what's needed to meet Class 3 eligibility without going over the top in beefing up every little part. Looking forward to seeing this rig complete the run! Will be good to see what OEM parts held up and what parts didn't.

A manual in a racer is a hindrance.

Trying to maneuver at 80mph off road in sand, silt and clouds of dust is hard enough without having to row the gears as well at a time when you are better served with both hands on the wheel.

Apparently that's not what they were thinking. Or, at the very least, they were willing to endure the shortcomings in favor of the thrill.

I don’t like fastbacks and I don’t like tire poke, but man that’s beautiful.

Yes, I would (did) definitely make this inexpensive upgrade. BDS Suspension - Alignment Cam Lockout Plates.

Pictures are hard for me to upload where I’m at but the team is ready for tech in morning! Steve, you would be happy to know that the rack does indeed have two tires mounted, skid plates installed and fuel cell finished :) between media, chase vehicles and the race Bronco. Our grassroots, non paid race team (#301 btw) has more Broncos in our entourage then Ford Racing. The team is made entirely up of volunteers from the bronco community that want RJ (the driver), to succeed in finishing and maybe placing a top spot. There are only 2 other vehicles racing in the Class 3 spot including an older Bronco that is way more modified then us and a Toyota as well with hefty sponsoring.
