Guys you always Dyno in 1:1
Not always, because at what RPM in 7th gear do you hit the speed limiter?

If you can't get above 4000 RPM because you are turning the wheels at 105 mph already, you won't ever get a peak HP number. Additionally, when the tires aren't rated for those speeds above 105 mph, it starts to become dangerous.

Just a thought from a former dynoshop owner and engine tuner.

So glad they didn't have speed limiters in the 60's when I started driving. No seat belt law, bias tires, drum brakes. windows down. 120+ mph out on the open road (speedo buried at 120).

1:1 is chosen most because it is the least parasitic loss. It is a Direct drive.
Any gear can be used and except for the slight difference in parasitic losses power would be the same. Gear ratios only effect torque multiplication. No change to power.

This! And trying to run these tires significantly above their limits is *likely not the best idea*.

I do agree that I’d expect the numbers to be higher, but they’re not surprising based on the results we’re seeing from the mags.
Never thought about it, but I've never seen LT tires on a dyno before.

Now I would love to know at what speed AT KO3s violently self-destruct :ROFLMAO:

I'll just agree to disagree. I do tune and Dyno my own cars also.

This is one of my builds

Guys, seriously. They didn't dyno is 7th because of the factory speed limiter mainly. Other than that, you'd have 150+mph wheel speeds that exceed the tire rating and most likely exceed the driveshaft critical speed as well. That being said they could've used 5th for sure.

Everyone run out and do your own dyno. Problem solved.

I am pretty sure Livernois knows what gear to run it on their dyno
Agreed. I was just curious, but quickly realized why they did it this way. A 1:1 ratio just isn’t feasible
