I do not have any, but will purchase a set of MRT Hood struts soonish. I have the ADV hood, and it does not have the holes and such the OEM has. These hood struts mount to the actual bolts that hold the hood, and to a nut that is not in use on the lower frame of the engine bay. So I can actually use these.

Also, MRT can calibrate their struts for aftermarket hoods that may be heavier than the Stock OEM. They cost a little more, but may be worth it since I cannot use the others.

Just an FYI, we have our MaxLIFT system designed specifically for aftermarket hoods available here:

Ford Motorsports hood struts are listed at just under $80 on Amazon, as of 20 minutes ago anyhow. In case anyone is eyeballing the Ford branded set.

I put Redlines on my Subaru about nine years ago. They're still working great. And if one does fail, I can get a replacement from Redline without having to buy a new kit.

When considering struts pay attention to how they install. As a general note, when selecting struts look for ones that connect near the middle of the hood. They'll put less stress on the hood when they're lifting it. The strut is a fulcrum for a lever (the hood) and you want minimum bending forces on it. A strut that attaches to the hood near the hinge puts a lot of bending force on the hood.

Some brands may block access if you're topping off your windshield washer bottle or radiator overflow. Or they may also get in the way if you're installing an underhood ARB compressor. A strut on the left may block easy access to the fuse panel and AUX switch wiring connections. Neither are a problem with the Ford and Redline struts. They may be a problem with the Mabett struts.

The Redline, Ford and some others (AIG for one) attach to the Ford hinge mounts, so they wouldn't be in the way. The Ford strut and Redline Max lift lift the hood 6-8 inches higher than the factory hood support. If you're six foot tall that isn't a problem, but if you're not (like me) it can make it difficult to reach your hood so you can close it.

RedLine max quick lift installed recently. I highly recommend watching the installation video on CJPony parts. Roughly a 30 minute "bolt in" installation in my garage, also used the rag recommendation in my fenders as suggested by another forum member to not lose the nut. I removed the stickers (sorry Redline Tuning) from the hood struts and removed the sticky part with WD40 and then Windex. They came out great and really should be included on a $50k Bronco IMO. I like how they release slowly the final few inches, definitely look to be OEM. I believe a definite investment to enhance your ride.

No love in this thread for the Mabett, but that is what I went with. Fun thing--haven't opened the hood since.

Do you have a SKU number? I called my parts department for my 4dr Wildtrak and was told there was no Hood Struts for the bronco, just the Hood Prop. TIA
Ridiculous that Ford Parts doesn't carry this...

Thanks. I was on parts.ford.com and the part number didn't turn up anything. Didn't know there was an accessories.ford.com site.
They also show up on the Ford Performance Bronco parts page

Look at the reviews on that on Amazon and compare that to the Redlines, it looks like you get what you pay for.

Well to update this thread, I indeed went with MRT hood struts during a 25% off sale. Brought the price down, and I pulled the trigger. Happy with them. I dig around under the hood, and I also do the shows.

Always hood up at the shows. So yeah the prop rod had to go.
