Can you double check his Julian number?

In his thread he had said 7/28 which is 21209 (that date is stuck in my head as that is my same build date for my 2.7 though I haven't had issues as of yet with the motor).
I found both... The last one was 207. Hopefully he can fill in the gaps. Even more hopeful that we will not really need this thread.

How bout -

2.7L Major Mech. Failures - [Engine Build Date Tracking]
Lacks sufficient drama, but maybe incorporate some of that.

LOL, that's awesome advice, I'll head over to my Toyota dealer now... I have been missing the excitement that I can only find in the RAV4. ;)

My 2.7 is a day 168, is that in a known problem range? 🤔

My Dad's blew yesterday. Not 100% sure of cause, but it dumped the oil and blew a bunch of smoke before ultimately shutting off, it sounded very dramatic and uncontained. It's at the dealer, sadly I don't have any of the info requested. His build week was Sept 2nd.

Dumped the oil...how so? Drain plug failure? Pan failure? Hose failure?

I really think this is because of the pandemic. Most likely because of the parts shortage. FORD probably switched to a different supplier for certain engine parts to get production rolling and the new 3rd party supplier is most likely not of good quality. Not to mention how backed up things are at the assembly plants so then they have to rush to get these vehicles pumped out once they get the parts.

Welcome to the new normal. This sucks. I hope FORD nips this in the butt ASAP!! 😭

Yikes sorry to hear! Makes me think maybe a thrown rod to blow oil out of the bottom I assume due to ruptured oil pan...

I know this is an enthusiast forum, and I know if you take a sample set of 100k or something a few failures isn't the end of the world, but this is frustrating. Wild to see so many issues with so many components.

Best of luck to everyone.
