hoss 3.0 rack programing issues

yeah i would never installed it ,BUT my local dealer scad "no problem we can do it"
the other thing that sucks is before i could still drive it now the dealer says it has no power steering at all FML!!

Hopefully someone here is smarter then me or the dealer

You said this then later you said that you installed in your garage in 2 hours? and have also done one on the trail?

There are definitely members here smarter than dealers, even people from dealerships that you wished were at your dealership.

Answer these:
1. Did you use software to program your rack?
2. If yes, what software?
3. Did you use ProCal?
4. Did you use a dummy VIN from another Bronco that is spec'd with the 3.0 rack?

If a dealer did the install I would think it would be on them…but yeah I have only heard of two dealers that have actually done a successful install…procal is totally flaky and dealers don’t use forscan which is required along with FDRS…if ya are in N cal ya might try hitting up “snacktime”…good luck

The way the OP has it worded - seems like the install was done DIY, and when the ProCal programming didn't work they took it into the dealer to help?

If the dealer performed the entire install, yeah, I would sway toward this is on them too, and make them sit on the phone with FP Support to get it installed.

If the OP DIYed this... I don't really hold the dealer responsible for not figuring it out, they tried to help, but the BMB hack isn't something they really can do, and you'd just be paying them a lot of of shop hour rates for them to sit on the phone with FP support and for the vehicle to sit in their yard.

I have heard of exactly 1 dealer doing the BMB hack, but I would expect most would not as it's circumventing the official FDRS software and they could end up with warranty liability.

Really, it comes down to the crappy Ford Performance ProCal install implementation. As much as I like to dog on dealers around here, I don't really blame this on them.

yes i cracked the spring that holds tension on the shaft on the trail i had clamp it down and use some jb weld to get home.

1: no, my fault i listen to the dealer they said they could flash it after i installed it
2: n/a
3: i have a procal but no Voucher for that program only performance and even that sucks too I'm going back to my JB4 performance programmer
4: Olny good thing is that the Hemborg Ford tech is a lot more useful and just forward this info to I'm i think hes going to try tomorrow

will see if the dummy vin works

Dummy vin definitely will work - but you need a FDRS compatible adapter (not many home users have) and need to use Forscan (not many dealers will touch that)


This isn’t the first case of Voucher Missing that I’ve seen, and almost every install being performed on an existing FP Tune vehicle seems to require FP support dial in remotely to un-fux it

But the VIN swap - never heard of that not working

I replaced my 1.0 rack with a 3.0 rack on MY22 Wildtrak

I ordered the rack with my ford points and it delivered to my home. When you get the rack it comes with a paper in it that contains a code that you register with ford and then they allow you to redeem the software to upload. They also give you step by step instructions on how to do it with the ProCal which basically instructs you to copy your vehicle > plug it into the computer for backup and download the new code > plug into your vehicle to upload the changes.

I purchase the ProCal Tune (which also comes with a code for redemption to download the tune)

The steps seemed fairly straight forward but because i didnt want to void warranty i took it to a dealership that had their own ford custom shop to do the work (they ended up having service dept replace the rack and the custom shop do the programming).

Fast forward a frustrating 2 weeks later (because they didnt know how to program and boke a bolt that needed to get replaced) I got my car back and it was a noticeable change in steering.

What i think the dealership messed up on because it was two groups that worked on the car is that the instructions tell you to flash the car before the rack was removed and im going to bet they didnt do that so they probably had to lift the old rack in place to do that before moving onto the next step.

Side note its very frustrating that a dealership is unable to install their own ford performance parts.

So, you did your homework, read the instructions, AND sought out help? WTF?!

Yeah I missed up on not using the Porcal setup can't blame the dealer but the shitty part is that they said they could program it and not following threw

Use Forscan to populate the dummy VIN into the BCM (I think it's in the BCM)
Use FDRS to program your rack
Use Forscan to populate your actual VIN back into the BCM
Clear all codes and drink a beer
