I noticed the Bronco is probably the only Ford not to have EcoBoost badging, and that got me thinking -- is there any way to tell from the outside which engine someone has? On earlier Fusions, the V6 had dual exhaust compared to I4's single. Likewise 2013ish F150s had the front license plate mounted off-center on EcoBoost models. Flex with EcoBoost has a slightly lower stance and the mufflers are painted black.

What, if anything, differentiates a 2.3 Bronco from 2.7 without checking VIN or popping the hood?

You could crawl underneath and look for the K braces on the frame, but it might be easier to open the hood.

You tell by which one is on the side of the road broken down or being towed by a tow truck.
Funny, but too soon man, too soon.
