I’ve been lurking for a few weeks and your posts convinced me to dive in. Current 2020 Rubicon owner and want a change (after 4 straight wranglers). Tested the waters on a 4Runner TRD Pro and was told they are adding $15k to sticker. After that act of stupidity (and my wife escorting me out), found a local Ford dealer that did Sticker and no deposit (in writing). Just have to wait for the next window and then the forever wait after.

Anyway, wanted to get the intro out of the way. It’s interesting how the path for the Bronco fits the JL path like a glove. Other than the wait- there were always threads on checking early vins for issues (there was a welding one that was comical), so I guess I’m a glutton for punishment. But- I soldier on because it looks cool and their group seems supportive (and cynical- which makes for fun reading).

At this point, I guess everything has been posted about what to look for, avoid, etc- including the positive stuff. Take it for what it’s worth- but you converted a Jeep guy :)

So, have you figured out exactly what you're going to order?

I think so. Wildtrack, 2.7 (unless that plays out differently in a couple months), leather, high package, accessories. I considered the Everglades, but somehow I figure that’s going to take a while to get moving.

I've had my OBX Bronco for two weeks. I previously drove a Wrangler for the past 25 years. I love it and have no regrets on the change. No hate for the Wrangler though either. Just wanted a change.

Interesting selection considering how different the two choice are between the WT and the Everglades.

Adding in the HOSS3 as well.

but yes, a bit of a change. The Jeep is/was great, but I just wanted something different. There’s like a whopping two vehicles I would consider replacing it with, and both seem to be orders anyway. So I’m going to give it a run.

I might also add that each of the 4 newly purchased wranglers had issues while still in warranty, so that played a role in looking. Lord. I’ve already replaced both batteries and the rear axle and it has 26k miles (on a 2020). Zero off-roading on this one.

And now someone said I need to look at the Outer Banks option (with all the added goodies). I feel like I have to debate that now. How in the world did you guys decide on these things? There seems to be too many choices. The Jeep folk got “Sport (base), Sahara (Groceries), Rubicon (offroad and cool)” Ford just said “hold my beer” and started pulling things out of a fishbowl.

well, I’ve got 2 months until I have to care anyway.

I think the biggest difference between the Jeep and the Bronco, is Ford allowed the cheapest trim (Base) to be decked out with almost the same mechanical abilities as the highest-dollar trim. To narrow it down quickly if you want washout floors and MGV seats you have two choices Badlands or Black Diamond (Everglades is basically, BD sasquatch).

It was easy for me. I wanted the best 4x4 capability that I could get and nothing else. Therefore, a 2-door Base Sasquatch.

I couldn't get a 2021 version of that without an automatic, so it has an automatic, and I'm pretty sure that it's better that way. I also couldn't order it in bright red (Race Red) for some stupid reason, so it's Rapid red. I also couldn't order it with a towing package for what I feel is another stupid reason, so it doesn't have that.

The four options I did order have all been good decisions, in my opinion. Rubber floor mats, keyless entry keypad, roof rails with crossbars, and of course, the extra cost of the Rapid Red paint.

Jeep "Sport" = Base or Big Bend. There was no reason to have these as separate trims except to get people to pay $6k for an $800 rear locker.

Jeep Sahara = Outer Banks. (should have sold this as a Lincoln). It the luxury trim package.

And I thought Rubicon was a package, not a trim level, but I haven't looked at Jeeps in a while.

But if you had a Rubicon, the closest equivalent would be a Badlands.

Wildtrack is supposed to be a desert runner like a Jeep Majave.

Race Red, A51, Cyber Yellow, and Cactus were not available on the base.

I ordered Rapid Red, but for some reason ford discontinued that color on Bronco, even though several other colors were less popular.

I also find it a tad frustrating that certain obvious additions aren’t allowed with other big level things. Like if you get the Sasquatch package on an OB, you can’t get a rear cargo protector. How did someone decide that?

Anyway, that’s just me being me. Third on my list seems to be that Everglades option. But Conspiracy Me says that it’s a bad idea to go with a special edition when there are so many issues getting the vehicle overall.

But I figure the answers will be what they are when they announce the 2023 setup. I’m betting some options will be removed to expedite production. Jeep did that with the JL and the 6 cylinder vs turbo 4. They threw money at the 4 and that was all you could find for a while. The tea leaves say anything with the 2.3 will take precedence over 2.7. Or further- a new engine will be introduced and won’t have the same premium cost.
