Does anyone use (or know of) an app to find public trails for their 4x4 (and future Bronco)?

I use Trail Forks and MTB Project to find mountain bike trails when I travel- so just wondering if anyone has any experience with a similar app when venturing off-road...

I've been using onX maps for years and have been very happy. I've found some very obscure and remote hiking trails and seasonal two tracks in several states out west.

I used All Trails once, it seemed good.

Seconded for Gaia GPS, although I used it for hiking not off-roading but I think it will work well. You are able to download section of a map before hand also.

“Offroad” trail guide, an app I use sporadically.

I'm curious to see how good the OEM trail maps feature Ford demo'ed will be.

I havent used it but a lot of the overland youtubers I watch use Gaia, which is now available through Apple Carplay.

Personally, I hope the Ford option works well and provides a robust update and social sharing functionality. The Gaia subscription is nomimal considering how much overlanding costs but it'd be nice to get a freebie that isn't a compromise.

Gaia is great. I have been using Gaia for years and they continue to add maps and improve the program. It is my go to, I love the USFS maps with a private lands overlay. Overland Bound has new app that seems to be pretty good but I have only just started playing with it. Michael built alot of user friendly features into the app.

For a smart phone, Avenza can’t be beat. All of the National Forest MVUM (multi vehicle use maps) are free. Download the map for the area you are going to and follow it around. It can track and record trail items (speed and elevation), drop pins and add pictures to those for future use. It’s a great tool. It works with no cell service too. It will work on tablets with GPS as well.

in CO we have a free app called COTREX that was paid for with OHV funds. It marks all the trails in Colorado, hiking to forest roads. You can plot tracks before you go and sections of CO are downloadable Or download the whole map like I have. It’s another really useful tool. With our wildfires, it’s been getting updated with recent closures too.

Looks like a nice service for me, walking, biking and driving...
