I believe there are still many states where Tesla can’t have dealerships and have various restrictions on sales. Their fight is far from over.Ford is not Tesla, look how long Tesla had to fight some states to sell direct to consumers.

Dealers are big shots in all small to mid size towns and have historically enjoyed incredible power in state legislatures, thus the existing state franchise systems.
