How ironic that I’m trying to sell one, and I carry a Sig 226!😂 and a German shepherd!

Tbh I don’t know. I took it out as soon as I got home. It was a dealer installed option I didn’t want. It sits in the garage with multiple for sale threads. 😂

I did not like the gaps initially (nor the somewhat rigid compartment layout in the drawer) but none that I have seen so far can carry much load on top, so my current plan is to add a platform with legs down those sides for extra support and create a sleeping platform that can carry me and cooler and gear.
Good question with the height for dog access, my dog only gets to ride in the back. Definitely would be too high to jump up, especially when he's older. The gap between lifted soft top and top of drawer should be tall enough for him (Australian cattle dog/shepherd mutt) but I'll make sure to measure.
He won't be with me on camping trips, so I might also just take the drawer out when not out exploring, kind of depends on how easy that is to do. I need it to keep camera gear etc somewhat secure when I don't want to carry everything on a hike.

I'd cut the platform to fit the outside lines of the cargo area and cover it with carpet or similar, so on first glance someone peeking in would not even know it's there.

Still hoping someone else will offer something more to my liking, but this thing I can get with my Ford Pass Points and there's little else on the accessories site I'm interested in.

Thanks for those top down photos!

Hmm, I must be the one person in the world who LIKES the gaps on the side. Super convenient to stuff random items (jackets, umbrellas, flashlights, etc.).

If you had a dog you'd understand. Impossible to clean the hair out would be a mess. As it is it's difficult to get everywhere.

Hmm, ok. With the top off all the hair blows out anyway. ;)

Lol my bad! Looks comfy up there. No problems with claws on the seat?
Ha ha, no worries, I'm just having fun. This one's claws are big and flat so I haven't worried about it and haven't had any issues. I love the harness, though. I wanted to have the piece of mind when riding with the top and doors off. It's this one: https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petco...th-dual-walking-harness-and-seat-belt-harness

I know most people on this thread are having their dogs ride around in the back, and I haven't done that yet.

Can someone put out the height demsions for it, I'm curious how flush it is with the seats laid down? Could you lay the seats down and sleep in the back with the box installed?

Videos are great, but only talk about, don't show removing the drawer to access the underfloor storage. I have not installed my unit yet but Ford's claim that we can still access the rear storage leaves out the caveat that you first must empty the drawer of all contents, then remove empty drawer.

I had random thoughts of only securing the assembly at front on hinges. The side gaps might accommodate some type of struts or lever to lift a loaded container enough to also access the underfloor

I don't think you would have to fully empty it. My understanding was that you just have to remove the drawer and you can place it on top of the box to access the underneath storage. That being said if your drawer weighs a hundred pounds it's going to be a little difficult.
