Do you work for Ford? ? You are basically telling them that you’d pay for something that doesn’t cost them a dime extra over another color.
They charge for rapid red and cyber orange. Definitely put a premium on some paint options

Naw, you can essential get a body colored one and paint it white.
For a few hundred dollars it's worth it to me to have it done by Ford. Beyond that just feels bad since they're making them already so it seems pretty greedy, especially after all of the money we're going to spend buying and customizing.

I went with $300-$400, because I will make a guesstimate that it would cost me that much at a local paint shop. I could be way off though.

I would pay more for MIC black if gray is the only MIC option. I don’t like the gray at all.

I believe you are way off. That’s a lot of work prepping and taping ,also remember the size of the roof . Average price for a bumper is $200-$300

If they make body colored tops can we just order a white one as a "replacement part" for the same cost as any other color?

I'd pay the same as whatever the black painted top costs. not a penny more.
You should be able to order white from the parts dept if it doesn't show up on the accessories list since white is an available body color. Someone is bound to break theirs or have it stolen, so Ford would need to offer replacements.

The white top is far and away my #1 priority since im going for the Leno AMB/White top setup. No other color combo has me as excited.

$1k for the top to be white, $1.5k for the grille and top. I guess similar to what a paint shop would charge me, or slightly higher, given its from the factory. I prefer paint to vinyl, at least for the top. Understand its a no cost to Ford, but it'll be a cost to me if i pay a bodyshop.
I guess it's been a while since I've had any custom painting done. I was thinking more in terms of $500 max for a quality job.

I guess I’m stupid- why are certain colors more money?
Just curious

It's likely they have a minimum charge. They have to mix the paint and clean the equipment etc. It doesn't take much more to spray a few more ounces of paint.

Cyber orange is a tri-coat so there are 3 separate layers to the paint....and I think metallic paints cost a little more to produce but that doesn't explain why only certain ones are marked up. So the real answer is probably "because they can"

A heritage package with not just a white top but the grill and more importantly the roll bar also white is something that I would pay extra for.
