Rear A/C

No rear AC but I usually turn off the underfloor vents when I have passengers in the backseat and that cools plenty and some. Never noticed/had anyone complain about the AC not being enough

Yeah me too, nobody has ever complained. The Bronco AC is plenty powerful to cool the small space front and rear.

I smell more than farts with this post! You sold your Bronco a year ago and come here to complain about something trivial. If you wanted to know if they added rear vents a search would give you the answer in 10 seconds. The AC in my Bronco is kickass, it isn't necessary having it blow in your face.

I’m curating some eye watering spicy chorizo flavored farts just for you lol. I was a somewhat early res holder and hopefully I can get another in a few years. RIP Albert.

It doesn’t need to blow in my face. With the floor mounted position you’d think my nuts would get a nice breeze and create a nice crotch flavored ambiance in the cabin. I’m waiting for that official Ford account to reply. Make an exceptional vehicle better with a simple fix.

To be clear, the front a/c feels great. Just make the rear vents functional. That guy didn’t strap fans to the headrests for the aesthetics. My bet is this issue will be quietly fixed and current owners will be out of luck. It’s certainly possible the handful of broncos I’ve been in have just been duds. I’ll add a poll.

I agree with most fellow owners that the air conditioning is more than adequate front and rear. It blows cold and the vents in front due their job at the right fan setting. I do agree that the under seat floor vents leave much to be desired. But I will advise that they are supposed to be above the carpet under the seat. When I was cleaning I noticed most of the vent was buried underneath the carpet restricting the air flow. So check you may have a similar issue.

HAHA I may be that old guy however I don't want to roll the windows down in this heat, but this back seat AC issue appears overblown to me.
Yes I would like to see some actual vents for the rear, especially for the price of this thing, with that said the AC in my Bronco 4dr blows like a hurricane and is ice cold, I never hear from the back seat that its to hot however I do get asked to turn the AC down as its cold enough in the back seats.

Do you point the center vents up and straight back so it cools the cabin or do you point them straight at the front passengers only? Sharing is caring.
I am in central FL and its hot here so I do know a little about this subject, that's my perspective anyway.

You hit on a key component, price. When the 6G Bronco was launched and many of us built and ordered them, rear AC vents never crossed my mind. I saw my Bronco in the same way I saw my old CJ-7, a fun little runabout for 35k that offered a few modern features but was not a luxury or even well-equipped vehicle. Throw the top back, roll down the windows and enjoy the fresh air. Too hot, take my other car with a great stereo, full climate control and plush leather interior. But…. Broncos now average 55k and it’s not hard to get over 60k for the higher trim levels. Expectations rise at those price points. I’m now in the same range as a Lexus GX or a Mercedes ML/GLE. Apples to Oranges I know, but the price points dictate the expectations. Look at how much Stellantis has had to improve the Wrangler to jack the price up to 60k. 10 years ago a Wrangler with AC was considered “loaded”. Now it’s standard and they all have cruise, power everything and leather. If Ford plans to continue Bronco at these prices they’ll have to raise their equipment game substantially.

To get airflow/air movement for the back seat passengers, I did clip on usb fans. They attach to the headrests.

From our super scientific census consisting of 18 votes so far, roughly 80% of people said their rear a/c vents don’t work very well. With varying degrees of caring about hotboxing the rear passengers lol. I wonder if those who answered yes have unicorn broncos or maybe haven’t checked the floor vents yet.

I don't think they have rear AC at all. There is the underfloor vent, but I think that only blows with the floor vent (and even then, not really much)

The Chinese version is bringing rear vents - we may get that in 2025 with an update.

Bronco HVAC is better handled like you remember it - pop the top and roll down the windows. The AC can handle the front passengers, but anyone sitting in the back is more or less left to fend for themselves - on heating or AC really.

it'll be interesting to see how long it takes for retrofit kits to come out, and more importantly, how difficult it'll be to install.

I have pups in the back seat that get pretty hot. I was thinking of making vents for them to go above there puppy beds from the bottom vents. However the air pressure is very low. But I was wondering if I close off most if not all of the front feet vents if the pressure would be pushed to the back. Allowing for more cooling. May have a 3d printed close off vent in the front. May test with closing off with tape fore now.

There was someone around here who added some fans in the tailgate to pull the air through the cabin and he said it worked out pretty well. I haven’t had much luck trying to block off vents - the fan screams and sounds like it’s moving air, and you do get a bit more but … not that much.

Just did a long road trip. Yes the Bronco AC is adequate. Does take some time to cool down from being parked in 95 degree FL sun. Not in the rear. It’s a back and forth game. During hottest part of day once rear passenger was cool enough I was freezing. Turn it down. Then passenger got hot so up the fan speed again. Once sun started to settle the temp stays stable throughout the cabin. We don’t have this issue in our other Fords to the degree of the Bronco. Must have something to do with cabin design , shape or height.

I installed the rear vent adapters to try to improve it for the rear seat folks. Not much if any difference so typically my son in the back complains. Especially if the dog is sitting on the console blocking the air.

I don't have rear passengers to worry about, hence the 2 door.


If I did though... they'd be cool/warm as a MF... because 2 door

Thank you a ton for this! I added one of these for my 7 year old and she's much happier now.
