Not sure if I have a brain cramp. Does the Bronco have a little speed limit sign in the upper left corner of the instrument display?

The dealer recently updated my Badlands dashboard software to troubleshoot an unrelated problem (Yeah, oddly, the instrument display flash seems to be a separate update than the general or overall updates Ford pushes over the air).

Since the update I get no speed limit indicator on the dash. I’m questioning my sanity…and now wondering if it was ever there.

It’s certainly not a significant issue… just an odd change if real.

UPDATE: I apparently did not understand the interplay with CarPlay. The display apparently needs input from the built in Ford Nav as an initial condition. Today I learned:
- If I open or use the Ford Nav the speed limit display works.
- If I cancel the Ford Nav and switch to navigate in Apple Maps or Google Maps in CarPlay while enroute, the speed limit display continues to work, until I shut the Bronco off.
- If I start the Bronco with Apple Maps CarPlay, the speed limit display does not work.

I think it depends on your trim. The speed limit is displayed in my Badlands with the High Package. I think you can turn it on and off, but maybe not. You obviously need to have NAV. I didn’t know my car had it, but one day I just noticed it was there.

Might not be why, but have you driven down major roads and it still is not showing? I have noticed on some streets around here, it is not showing. It does on most, but not all.

Also, how the heck does it know, does the camera in the rear view mirror area look for them and set it? I swear my wife's Explorer does, it sees a 20 MPH school zone and BAM, it displays 20. Haven't driven the Bronco thru one yet, so not sure it does it like that or not. Could just be a map update thing, who knows.

Update:
It has to be the camera, found this on the Ford website.

It’s GPS based. Some Ford vehicles use the camera, the Bronco does not.

Yes, I’m familiar with the fact it doesn’t recognize all streets and highway speeds. I get no display of speed anywhere.

I believe it picks up GPS data that includes speed limits from the nav….or it did when it worked.

May not be the reason in your case...
You lose the speed sign in the dash when you have an active route in Waze.

Never use Waze. But I did just start using Apple Maps, replacing Google and sometimes the Ford nav. Maybe that’s it. Will see tmrw. Thanks.

Maybe that’s it.
Same if using the Android Auto feature for navigation. The sign display in the dash seems to be limited to the built in navigation.

On my 23 Badlands with Lux, it sometimes shows on the instrument panel and sometimes it's on the navigation. Never investigated enough to see when it'll be on one vs the other though.

If you have an active navigation route, the speed limit in the instrument panel goes away, dumb AF. An update changed that long ago. Otherwise it should be there. Any trim.

It's on my 22 Badlands with the mid package, and I think it's a great feature.
