3.7L Cyclone! If it’s enough for the V6 Mustang it’s enough for the Bronco!

Edit: Police Interceptor has it with twin turbo.

Dear Ford,

If you offer the Bronco with a manual in the 2.7L I will trade in my Wrangler and buy the Bronco, and there are more like me.

No one is offering the manual enthusiasts engine options, and they are the ones who will spend for more power

Hope your head this, I’ll check back in 2022, 2023

for me the lack of manual 2.7 has been the biggest letdown of this whole launch. I couldn’t care less about the color of the top or the slide out tail gate or even mid package. It’s all about the engine, transmission, suspension, gearing.

Popular demand doesn’t work if you stick to one thread, not trying to spam or troll.

to those saying not enough takers this is the point

I think your best chance is to promote a package deal. Get several companies involved.

I think the Package would come with:

  • Manual Transmission
  • Big Block V8
  • Flip phone
  • Rotary dial home phone
  • Tube TV
  • Box spring Mattress
  • Bronco logo Leisure suit
Call it the extinction package, replace the Bucking Bronco, with a dinosaur.

Just kidding about. Just not enough demand. It likely will soon become a rarity to find any Make/Model on a high volume production car with a manual. The 4 should have plenty of pep, and likely will have a tune available in a year or two. I think we forget how much more HP the new engines have.

My 6cyl Mustang is much faster and better than my 5.0 and 4.6's.

True I’m sure the 2.3 is fine and gets the job done. My point is that I have a Jeep JK 3.6 MT that I’m happy with. But I would switch over if Bronco would open up the engine options. If they want to carve market share out of Wrangler, which they have to, they’ll need to cater to the enthusiasts as well, which Jeep does a fairly good job of.

And offering more manual engine options would be a good way to pull a lot of Jeep enthusiasts to Ford

Wasn’t the V6 not enough for Mustang and they killed it?

Not sure about the 3.7L cyclone but I imagine they had some better engines they wanted to slap in the platform. Wikipedia says it was used from 2011-2017 on the Mustang. It’s still used in a lot of products including Lincolns and the current police interceptor.

Funny but package deal is a great idea. An Enthusiast package, bare bones as far as tech and entertainment but has all the functional bits in a 2DR only....Basemansquatch with 2.7 Ecoboost, maybe MGV seats:) Ford could charge a premium for it.

No, the old PI has the 3.5 EcoBoost in transverse position. The 3.5 EcoBoost is an offshoot of the 3.5 Cyclone, so it's close.

3.7 in the Mustang was fine, but Ford killed it in favor of the 2.3 EcoBoost, which was faster and got better mpg, kind of obsoleting the 3.7. The 3.7 would be roughly equivalent to the Pentastar, and Ford didn't want to just match the Wrangler, they wanted to crush it.

Cyclone Engine Wiki

Either way, point being that it’s an engine that is still in production use for other vehicles that has been paired to a manual and would satisfy the crowd that wants a manual V6.

Now IF it can be paired to the 7MT is another story...
