Since the Badlands is so heavy, would it be smart to get a tune?

Im kinda a tune noob. However more power doesnt sound like a bad thing. The badlands has a bunch of heavy stuff bolted on and maybe more power would help the car get around better

so some questions

1. Does it void the warranty?

2. Does it long term hurt the car?

3. Will increase performance increase safety issues (rollover) and complicate automated safety systems?

4. Would it hurt MPG (this i think is a dumb question i think)

EDIT

since this thread blew up here is a 2.7 f150 doing 0-60 in like 4 seconds

I cant speak on the 2.3 but the 2.7 will be perfectly good without a tune for a heavy BL. Sure, will tunes help performance yes, but definitely bot needed.

The Ford Performance tune won't void the warranty but may decrease longevity. Also I believe you're supposed to run 93 in it to achieve full benefits of the tune.

If the BL was too heavy for the 2.3 then Ford wouldn't have put it there.

I think I read the Black Diamond is heavier than Badlands, right?

Buying a "bunch of heavy stuff bolted on" for a street rig may not be the best choice, a tune does not help rolling over rocks and trails. If you want a hot rod a different trim may be better.

Factory / Dealer tunes get 36 month/36,000 mile warranty.

It will increase the likelihood of a rollover. (because, power..., high CG truck, lack of experience, hot rod driver, etc.)

Yes, it will hurt MPG.

🤷 My Milan is an absolute pooch and people felt Explorers with the 2.0EB were severely underpowered. My rental Escape felt even worse.

We're getting the 2.7EB for the same reason I got the 3.5EB in my Flex -- we're sick of slow cars.

Turbo tunes are AWESOME! If you're worried about warranty, then get the Ford Performance tube. It'll be pretty mild.
As far as octane, ALL of the power figured quoted by Ford on their stock Ecoboost engines ARE on 91 octane.
You could get a tune for 93 or even 87 if you wish.
As far as performance, I once put a Trifecta tune in my Regal GS 2.0L 6 speed manual. The thing was an ANIMAL! Huge performance gain...
2nd gear roll-on's usually just lit up the tires!
I'd likely get one for my 2.3 once I felt the need for more power (and better economy)

And the Ranger one says you shouldn’t tow with it.

No. I drive a 2015 F150 3.5 Ecobeast. The new 2.7 has almost as much torque and hp and the broncdog will weigh 2/3 of my f150. She's gonna boogie no matter what!!
