"Illegal" only if someone wants to prosecute. My sister had a CJ7 softtop that kept getting cut in the same work parking lot. She started duct taping a rat trap over the inside door handle that they would reach down to open the door after they cut the top. Lots of blood the next time, but it only happened that once more.

Sucks that happened, man. That guy probably has no clue that you hit the alarm button, so now he probably thinks soft top Broncos sound the alarm when the windows are cut. Hopefully this keeps him from trying it again on another Bronco.

I had something similar happen to my jeep back in 2013 except they took my side windows lol. At the time it was cheaper for me to buy a factory replacement top through bestop than order 2 separate windows.
Since then, I always keep my doors unlocked. But you can’t stop idiots from not checking doors and just slashing your top or windows.
