I have BD with stock steelies and tires but I want to switch to 35s but keep the steelies. Any recommendations on what tires to get? Stock tires are starting to look “small”

255/85 R16 - Go for 33's (10" wide) they fit better + they work with your gearing better. + u dont need some typical, trendy over-wide pokey tire. Willing to lay down a gentleman's wager of a crisp Toonie that freeway driving in Miami is a wee bit different than in the final frontier of Alaska. The BD has 17 inch rims, and 35s work just fine.
I've only had my 35s down to Ft Lauderdale, so I'll claim ignorance on the Miami scene. Now, the biggest test of my 35s has been country highways in MT at 85-90. Everyone should drive within their own limitations though.Willing to lay down a gentleman's wager of a crisp Toonie that freeway driving in Miami is a wee bit different than in the final frontier of Alaska.
"Works just fine" is a bit generic especially as BD gearing isn't optimized for the 80+ MPH those fine folks in Florida like to drive on the freeways (90+ if you don't want to get honked at).
Interesting info here since I like the look but I’m a bit concerned about the compromise. How easy is to change the gearing for the BD? City driving is ok but I always felt that it should be much betterI run SAS spec 35s (315/70/17) on my BD with no lift or leveling. You do need to remove the crash front and rear crash bars in the front wheel wells to prevent rubbing.
Honestly though I'm considering either changing the gearing or switching back to my original tires because the gas mileage and performance tanked with the 35s. Just a heads up...
Thanks for all the links @kodiakisland !Another thread with 35s and steelies:

I blame the wheel wells. Ford really did it to us with these giant wheel wells, begging for 35’s or larger. I took off my stock Grabbers and sold them to my nephew, who put them on his 4Runner. Here are the exact same tires on both vehicles…Stock tires are starting to look “small”
I honestly have no idea about changing the gearing, I'd want a professional to do it for sure. The one thing that I do know is it will be expensive. I tried to order SAS when I got my BD but back then you couldn't get it with the 7-speed manual, even though Ford announced that you could (I even had the sales manager try to add it in system in the back end).Interesting info here since I like the look but I’m a bit concerned about the compromise.
