Thanks for sharing OP. I’m a little nervous I’ll be close to rub on front end crash bars. I’ve ordered 295/70 with +12 off set. Obviously no rub with crash bar is ideal.

Already wishing I went modular bumper for tougher look and ease of removing end caps to pull crash bars. Looked like bumper needs to come off to pull bars on non SAS OBX??
That’s what has been shown on You Tube. Non modular bumpers must come off to remove crash bars. Doesn’t look hard though. Bumperettes snap off to access the bolts.

I can’t speak on actual experience for another 4 - 5 years thanks to Ford so I’ll have to rely on You Tube

No issue with the almost 34s? I really want to do 285/75/17 on my OBX on Vision Fury rims.
I put some bigger shoes on this whip. I was going to level it but decided not to. I put this size on because it was as large as I was comfortable with on the 7.5 Big Bend rim. The crash bars didn't rub but I removed the rears anyways.

Zero rub in full lock and full lock reverse. The tires clear the first crash bar by 1.5 inches and the control arm by 1.25 inches.

Edit: FYI Tires are nitto ridge grapplers that nitto specs at:
33.86"11.26"

Does anyone know if a standard tire place (like Discount Tire) will put this size on a Big Bend. All the sites show the tire will not fit the model so I'm skeptical they may refuse to change them out.

Discount tire will definitely install this for you.

I installed this size (Nitto Ridge Grapplers) on zero offset wheels and needed to remove both crash bars on the front.

So those were aftermarket wheels?

Yes. I would have thought that moving the wheels out via zero offset would have helped regarding the crash bars but I still needed to remove both.

I'm debating between the 285/75r17s and 295/70r17s on my stock big bend (and stock big bend wheels). Anybody have a pic with 295/70s to post in this thread for comparison to the OP's? I'm sure the difference will be very minimal... Any reasons to go with one over the other?

to me that tire is perfect! nice height and for me the best part is the width, more of the traditional skinny look
Skinny? That's almost a foot wide. I have 265/75/16s on my Base and that is still a wide tire. Did that for rotational weight savings and better traction in snow etc. Also, I am an OCD cheapskate, so, do not follow my example. I do love my Falken ATW3's, though. Snow rated and 44lbs each.

I put BFG KO2 285/75 r17 tires on my factory Big Bend rims and added a Zone 2 inch front lift/1 inch rear level kit. No issues with rubbing or anything at all. Quite a bit of room and it looks a lot better than the original 255/75 r17 tires.

I'm going to throw this out there, I put 285/75/17s on my big bend. Zero rub on the crash bars, not even close, no rub on the UCA, kinda close, would probably rub with wider tires.

I DO rub on the right side sway bar when full turn right, maybe the last 1/16 of the steering. I'm not the only one either, another group member has this.

They rubbed before and after I put SAS suspension on

Excellant!!! I was trying to figure out tire size and rim backspacing etc. But this size is what I was going to go with and now i know i need no new rims. The width and getting the tire on the edge of poking out was the goal. Thanks for the perfect pics!!!

I just ordered 265 Falkens for my BB. I'm Old school and cheap, 265s are only .4 " narrower and shorter and $80 ea cheaper than the 275s I considered. I went with load range E for cut and puncture resistance. I'm from a time when a 10.7 x 32 tire was huge
