Hey all,
I took delivery of my FE last week and now I’m down in Joshua Tree giving it a proper break-in.

It was mostly flawless on the drive down from San Jose. Today I hit the trails and for some reason GOAT mode is only serving up Normal, Eco, and Slippery.

Previously all the modes were available, even as of last night when I put it in Baja to head up a long dirt road to the place where we’re staying. After discovering the issue today I tried to cycling through all the 4x4 modes a few times and turned off and on the ignition several times. I’m still only getting those 3 modes. No other issues or errors messages have popped up. I figure I’ll try it again in the morning and if the issue persists I’ll disconnect and reconnect the battery.

It’s a damn shame because the trails I was on today would have been a blast to try all the modes on - ranging from high speed packed surfaces, to deep sand, to slow and rocky. It still handled it all great without most of the goat modes.

Let me know if you have any ideas about what the issue might be or how to resolve it.

Also, this thing rocks!

And one more possibility is the speed at which you are driving, when you turn the selector. I have been driving a loaner BB for the last 2500 miles and noticed it only offers up those it can switch to. So, stop and either N or P, then select..... it makes sense, because anything with 4L and/or lockers is No-No above 25 mph?

You're in Joshua Tree so don't turn your SXM to the U2 channel.

You dont want to hear Bono sing, "I still can't find what I'm looking for....."

The irony could be overwhelming.

A couple questions:
Did you set up My Key? Or did it do it itself (glitch)

When experiencing the problem can you manually select drive modes? 4H, 4L etc.

Yes, I set up a MyKey when I was first playing around with the infotainment system. I thought it would have more value than it did. Interesting I had to start the Bronco with the other non MyKey key in order to clear out the MyKeys.

When the GoaModes we’re limited all the 4X4 modes we’re still manually selectable.

I think I’ll coin this missing Goat Mode glitch as G.O.S.T. Mode (goes over some terrain) ;)

It means that your trial period is over. Now you can pay a monthly subscription to BN to enjoy the GOAT modes.

You can cancel at any time the subscription.

Yeah my key locks out certain features and I believe off-roading is some of them. Maybe it got confused unless you had the my key in the vehicle somewhere.

Ford allows you to take one of the Key FOB's and program it to restrict certain things. Hence "MyKey"

E.G. you have a teenage driver and you want to set a maximum speed limit or maximum radio volume you can do with with MyKey on one of the FOB's.

Apparently with the Bronco setting up a MyKey for one of the FOB's deactivates the more aggressive GOAT modes when using that FOB. E.G. Sport, Baja, Rock Crawl, etc. cannot be selected. These goat modes in some form or fashion may turn off some of the traction control nannies, make more aggressive shift points, etc. which Ford would deem to be inappropriate for that restricted driver.
