For those saying you can NOT drive in 4x4 on pavement I believe you are mistaken. There is a lot of false information out there that if you are driving on asphalt or concrete you have to have “4A” and that is not necessarily always the case. If it is slushy snow out on pavement and you have slipping, you can put it in 4H as long as there is slipping conditions and you are going under 60MPH or whatever the top speed for your system is (if you are going faster you obviously don’t actually need 4x4 engaged) if it starts to get better traction on the road put it back in “2H” and keep driving. Now let’s say it gets really slippery out again, throw it in “4H” again and be on your way. Just remember if you hit lots of traction you better be in “2H” or you will have binding especially if you try to turn while you have good traction. The only thing Advanced transfer does is when in “4A” the computer decides whether to be in “2H” or “4H” for you so you don’t need to remember to switch back and forth.
