Well you know what the say - the best way to make a small fortune in auto racing is to start out with a large fortune.

There's only one way to settle this. You and him gotta race.
Going to be tough to find a "press" car from 2002, probably crushed.........

HA! My Mach 1 ran 12.1's-12.0's with exhaust, tires, and 4:30 gears....this is from way back in '05!

I mean if we are going to play the "what did it run with only a couple of mods" game, terminators have gone 12.4's bone stock and 11.4's with pulley, intake/X pipe and tires. I got no real dog in that fight, I just liked the stock package of TVS V-8, 6 speed, and IRS in a pretty "old" mustang.

I hated the aero fox look and didn't really like the looks of any stang after 86 until the 05's. My ideal "factory" driver would be an 05 body, GT350 5.2, and the latest susp on both ends.

I hate how much this bothers me but it does:
The back window and the lack of angle to the back of the top. It’s got no personality in back. It doesn’t resemble any of the past Broncos. Even the EB had more of an angle. The whole back end is a boring uninspired Jeep knock off. I FUCKING HATE IT! Lol. But seriously it takes everything away from the beautifully inspired front end. It’s like a hot woman with no ass.

Other then that silly gripe Id say SFA and manual. Both of which were never make or break for me. I don’t even think I’d get a manual if they offered it because I want my Bronco for daily driving and over landing long trips. However, the Bronco was originally suppose to be the “sports car”, the Mustang of the off-road so it should come with a manual. Just for the fun factor alone.

Oh and the two doors too short. I want some cargo space. More space is what Jeep lacks and Ford could have really separated and one up’d Jeep on that front.

We haven't even seen the final back window to my knowledge.

I rather like women with au naturel derrière. I somehow missed the memo where fat injections added sex appeal :)

I also prefer an engine that doesn't sound like a pencil sharpener. Perhaps today's news offers hope for MY2+:

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration rolled back ambitious Obama-era vehicle mileage standards Tuesday, raising the ceiling on damaging fossil fuel emissions for years to come and gutting one of the United States’ biggest efforts against climate change.

The Trump administration released a final rule Tuesday on mileage standards through 2026. The change — after two years of Trump threatening and fighting states and a faction of automakers that opposed the move — waters down a tough Obama mileage standard that would have encouraged automakers to ramp up production of electric vehicles and more fuel-efficient gas and diesel vehicles.

Really won't affect much. Auto makers will not roll back emissions/mileage standards/etc. Because 1) the customers want it and 2) there will be a different administration at some point that DOES care and will reinstate them.

God I hope you’re right. If they fix that it will be as as close to perfect as I could want.

Time will tell. But the vehicle mix being sold today varies greatly from the mix anticipated when those Obama targets were defined.

We have (or have we?...)

It appears more vertical than the original.

The combination of the very vertical, very rectangular rear window and the unpainted hardtop gives me very very strong Jeep vibes looking at the back of it. Now, the wrangler isn't an unattractive vehicle, but this definitely doesn't stand out from one looking from the back.

Agreed, but if that top were white, it would be saying “Bronco”. Jeeps with body color tops remind me of H3’s in the same way. It ain’t right!

I think your putting the cart ahead of the horse, industry wide MPG averages have been down the past couple of years. This suggests that consumers are not interested in saving marginal amounts of fuel. Ignoring the fact that gas is $1.40 a gallon today, it’s not likely we will ever see inflation adjusted fuel above $2.75 a gallon again in the next decade.

In fact as the fuel economy standards have risen over the past 10 years consumers have went from 51% of purchases being trucks and SUVs to 74% of purchases being said vehicles. Consumers don’t seem interested in purchasing the latest round of turbo/hybrid cars.

Ford would be wise to take advantage of this while it lasts, a V8 option is a printing press the American consumers.
