Hi Sean! I hope I can help out here. I will link the products described in this message below. Our rack utilizes 1/4-20 hardware in the T-Slots. When mounting your rack, you would have used some 1/4-20 carriage bolts.

In order to mount some eyelits to use as tie downs, I would recommend using some of these bolts again. They are readily stocked at places like ACE Hardware. You can order them online in bulk as well. I recommend doing this because they are nice to have around when you have a rack that uses them.

You can then also order 1/4-20 eyenuts online too. From here, all you would need to do is slide the carridge bolt into the slot, and thread the eye nut down until it is secure. If you use blue loctite on the threads, it will keep it from rattling loose. This will allow you to use tie downs on the rack (Ratchet Straps, Cam Straps, Etc.)

As for straps, some of the best straps on the market for this application are from Roller Cam.

If you have any more questions please let us know!

Do you have the dimensions of the T-slot by any chance (depth, width, etc?)

I am trying to find T-nuts or ruller nuts that I can utilize to drop in without removing the extrusion but having trouble.

Hey!

Great questions. We use 1020 series Tslots which spec a .25" or 1/4" channel using 1/4 diameter hardware. I will attach a few links below for some drop in hardware!

https://www.mcmaster.com/47065T226/

This is for drop in T nuts, we would sell them but feel if our customers can skip us as the middle man and get it cheaper somewhere else, so be it.

https://www.mcmaster.com/carriage-b...stainless-steel/material~316-stainless-steel/

Here are carriage bolts as well that would work nicely but does require you to remove the Tslots to get them in, but once they are in, they can be used on tons of accessories.

Typically if you can find a Tslot framing 1/4-20 spec hardware, it will fit the 1020 series TSLOTS. Let us know if you have any more questions!

This is super helpful and exactly what i was looking for. In getting the rack, I realized this is a 1020 series from 8020 and looked at their site for hardware.

Appreciate you linking that hardware, as its always been a pain when a mfr resells hardware and the average consumer ends up eating or not knowing where to get hardware.

I'll update you guys when I get some of these drop-ins.

You could do that. Cannot promise it will look as cool LOL.
Can you do this with a Heretic light bar attached? Meaning you're basically leaving the wind deflector and the lights bar, but the the rest of the rack is removed?

Hi. Is there anyone out there that went from an OEM rack to this rack? Can you comment on the wind noise vs the two and also more wind noise comments in general (with the deflector)

Also, so it is confirmed you can take the front row 2 panels off and also the backseat larger panel off while leaving this rack installed? I cannot take my back panel off with the OEM rack and looking at this rack as an option.

Thanks

Yes, you can take off the first and second row panels off with this rack.

Not recommended, but it is your Bronco and your accessories.

Hello! With our testing with Justin B Mcbride who did go from an OEM rack to our rack, he saw a significant decrease in wind noise, this is mainly due to him having his Go Fast SuperLite tent on the OEM which created a huge wind tunnel that was horrible for him. He was not able to talk on the phone unless he put headphones in, after putting our rack on, he can have normal conversations in the Bronco. It was a significant decrease but please keep in mind, adding a roof rack and other accessories to your vehicle is subjective to wind noise, our wind deflector definitely helps. We pick up our Bronco this week and will give a full youtube video of testing for everyone to see the performance of the rack.

Not recommended, but it is your Bronco and your accessories.
Is it not recommended because of how it will look? Or is it because of structural integrity?

If you ran with just the deflector and light bar with no other parts to the rack, the wind load rating at speed will be a lot of stress on the parts and integrity.

I'm looking at a Yakima Rocketbox 16 (92-inch) cargo box. I believe this has Yakima's proprietary under-box clamp installation system (I've asked for details). After watching a Yakima installation video, I see that the clamps slide forward and back, and should adjust and affix to the Trailrax crossrails. At least, it looks that way

Can anybody confirm or correct me on the compatibility with the Yakima cargo box system and the Trailrax? I drive the Badlands Sas 4-Dr MIC with the full-length Trailrax with wind deflector and Heretic 40-inch lights.

I also went from OEM to Trailrax, and will also testify that the wind noise was reduced due to the wind deflector design and lack of a gap between light bar and windshield. But as @TrailRax noted... a lot of it will still depend on what you mount on top. All other variables removed, this is a quieter rack than OEM by quite a bit.

Just ordered a 2 door with Pax Rax from Modula racks here in Canada. Pretty exited - we've got a wedge RTT that should work better up there than the OEM rack. I'll get a flex head ratchet to help with the install. Wasn't able to get the lightbar cutout that I wanted, but maybe I'll switch it up and mount some round lights directly to the wind guard.

Been meaning to ask what kind of stuff others have mounted to the PackRax, beyond Rotopax?

Also, what kinds of cases/bags and mounts have people successfully used on top of the rack? (Ideally less expensive than Pelican and Roam)
After doing a considerable amount of research over the last month before I install my rack in a couple of weeks, here are some of the best options I have come up with as far as mounting solutions. I hope this helps you and many other forum goers, as it took a lot of time to figure it as someone who is new to the whole t-track system.

Tie down Straps:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BSFYZMC...olid=3D1YKBPMV9IGZ&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

Machine Eye bolts:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0972BRGT...olid=3D1YKBPMV9IGZ&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

Drop in T-nuts:

Hammerhead Bolts:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QX58DK...colid=3D1YKBPMV9IGZ&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1 ( I think this size should work good for mounting the Quick Fists)

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B6NZ97B...olid=3D1YKBPMV9IGZ&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

Quick Fists Ax/shovel mount: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CQPANY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

Universal Mount for rotopax/MaxTrax , etc
https://www.victory4x4.com/product/VRKACM.html

I plan on buying many of these in a few days for mounting solutions of varying needs. I believe all should work since all should be compatible with 1/4" 20 that Trailrax system uses. I hope this is helpful!

Take note of the last link,, the Victory 4x4 mounting plate for roof racks. They don't illustrate it on the merchandise page, but you'll see the product if you click on the install video.
TrailRax has some t-nuts and t-bolts recommendations of their own, which I didn't see on a quick review of their website. They have specified them on these forums--somewhere--maybe this thread? If you go search for it.
I wonder if people have had theft off their Roof racks and PaxRaxes, or the equivalent: people with PaxRax jerry cans, shovels, other gear just stolen because of easy release mounts.
I'll probably buy a bunch of these, then keep them tucked away somewhere in a ziplock bag so they're always handy. A lot of the mounting gear is proprietary, over-engineered, and too expensive. Thanks for the research, Delli555!

Edit: TrailRax's hardware mounting recommendations are scattered around this thread. If interested, go to search, and enter "T-nut" or "track" or "T-bolt" then specify "TrailRax" in the "member" field. Note the spelling in TrailRax, it's important, and search one item at a time. They have recommendations.
