That's pretty neat!

I got the New Bright version for the kids and it's very under powered and the front wheels are all wonky now.

I'm super into RC crawlers. Mostly been into Axial and Element in recent years - this will totally bring a Traxxas into my "rc garage".

And yeah, crawlers are a way different experience than other faster rc cars. I have a sweet crawler course in the woods behind my house - rock garden, swinging bridges, etc. Slow, methodical, technical rc crawling is a blast. It's oddly similar to real-life offroarding... gotta pick good lines, manage your throttle, etc.

(Though this one does have a 2-speed trans, so it can actually zip around pretty fast... if that's your thing.)

called my local dealer, he has a call with traxxas today but he was not aware of this release. considering its already mid may and he doesnt even have a display model yet, you could probably get your hands on one in june.

just recognize what this is, and isnt.

This is a crawler. designed for slow deliberate climbing of crawling courses. landscaping rocks, dirt hills, maybe some rope bridges, that sort of thing. The top speed is around 10-15mph.

There are other $500 offroad cars that will go 50+MPH, do backflips in the air, climb curbs, etc.

This one looks awesome, but as an RC aficionado, I find rock crawlers to be like watching paint dry. In part because I do not have the inclination to assemble a rock crawling course and just bopping around the lawn at 10mph is a not epic. But many love this genre.
So you're saying they are geared down for off-road? Sounds familiar....

Absolutely, a $500 RC budget gives you your choice of a fantastic array of different vehicles.

When I came back to RCs as an adult, I tried a crawler, and a 50mph 4x4. My impressions:

Crawler Pros:
-Relatable experience, but at 1/10 scale. In a lot of ways, it's like the off roading I've done in full scale vehicles. Challenging your vehicle, to get through obstacles, and getting to interesting places is fun. I use my crawler on hiking trails that I would enjoy without the RC.
-Lower speeds result in less breakages.
-Very detailed exterior appearance
-Easy to drive

Crawler Cons:
-I liked the first one so much, I had to buy another one.

50mph 4x4 Pros
-Can hit sick jumps. Let's be honest, jumps are cool and fun.

50mph 4x4 Cons
-It will crash, and it will crash HARD. This can lead to more breakages.
-Not as relatable to full scale vehicles. Never in my life have I taken a full scale vehicle and done a jump, where I land 30+ car lengths away.
-I did not like it enough to keep it, and sold it for a small loss.

Something is soooooo wrong when a toy of a vehicle can be purchased before the actual vehicle can be.

Ford needs to learn some marketing photography from this advertisement.
