Trim differences

Looking at getting a 2024 Bronco,
Trying to figure things out with differences on trim.

Big Bend - lowest trim. Cannot get lux package? Suspension is set up a little more for offroading?
Black Diamond - Same as Big Bend but set up to be more offroading? - rubber floors, standard aux. switches, bigger axles and tires which accounts for the horrible gas mileage even with 2.3?
Outer Banks - Less off road, more passenger friendly environment? Copilot is standard? Auxiliary switches are optional, Less stout suspension, Can get lux package?

These are basically the 3 trims I am looking at as everything else is out of my price range.

Is paying $49,000 for an Outerbanks with mid package worth it over a $45,000 Big Bend with mid package?

If you are going to increase tire size, then get the Black Diamond for it's gearing. Regardless of what you decide, get the rear locker (BD comes with it as standard).
I know the BB and BD comes with washout floors now, not sure about the OBX.

yes.

My wife bought an OBX a month ago; it had everything I wanted (2.7, AUX switches, advanced 4x4, and rear locker), except for Lux package. We came from a high end minivan with all of that stuff, and were used to it. But now that we don't have it, it's no big deal. But hey, we're older; my wife still talks about her '68 Camaro, and we each still fondly remember our '79 Civics. We know how to, you know, drive cars.

Black Diamond all the way - best value across all trim levels. It's a better starting point than Big Bend and you can still add a lot of options without needing to go to higher trims. Big Bend is more limiting in what can be added or upgraded. If you aren't looking for Sasquatch, don't require leather seats, don't need a disconnecting swaybar, and don't need a heated steering wheel, or Adaptive Cruise, then Black Diamond is the place to start. Otherwise, if you want Lux package features, you have to be at OuterBanks or above.

I know for '24 they changed the OBX configurations, so always check Ford's configurator to make sure your desired features are available on your desired trim level.

If I want the features of my '23 OBX, in '24 I'd have to move up a trim level. (And even then it's not perfectly aligned, I don't think.)

So always be careful about configuring. Year over year, you may see changes.

Don't know if you are getting a hardtop or not, but if you are, I'm guessing an OBX with locker/hard top and Lux will price out similar to a Heritage Edition that comes standard with Sasquatch/hard top/mid package (12" screen).

My .02 - I would 100% buy a Big Bend over an OBX if you plan to just use your Bronco as a regular vehicle and don't plan to go offroading and such. They are basically the same thing except the OBX adds a bunch of fluff features and optional packages that sound important on paper but I promise you wont actually care about after owning the vehicle for a few months. The Broncos fun comes from having the doors and roof off so if you care about little comfort features above those things you are probably looking at the wrong vehicle. Just save your money and get the BB. Anything you want to add cosmetically from the other trims can be found on FB market for cheap at this point anyways and they all bolt right on.

If you plan to do some offroading trips, then deff go with the Black Diamond. Main differences is It comes standard with a rear locker and full skid plates/metal bumpers which you will definitely want in those situations. The tires are also 'good enough' to get started offroad until you change them for slightly bigger ones whenever they go bad/you feel like it.

If you can drive a stick shift, get the stick shift. It is the best option to have on the vehicle above all else.

I ordered a Big Bend in 2022 with rear locker, aux switches, tow package, and a hard top for $40k. Sold the hardtop for $7k, then used that to buy a Trektop, 33" Badlands wheels & tires, sasquatch suspension, full skid plates, rock rails, ford performance tune, and some other junk. Basically ended up with a Black Diamond with better wheels/tires, suspension, and power for the price of a standard Big Bend, so you can also go that route if you don't mind putting in a little time/effort.

To clarify, I would not be offroading much other than back roads and such. No rock climbing etc., but may look at modifying for appearance. Brush guard, KC lights, tires,...etc.

The best values are 2023 models (right now, in 2024), the regular Heritage and Everglades. There's a lot of inventory out there, so even MSRP right now is probably several thousand more than you should have to pay. Be willing to go elsewhere from where you live and you could likely get a really great deal.

If you want looks, I'd say OBX (colored fenders and door handles), since it's the "fancy" trim model. If you want an off road looker (not necessarily to off road), Badlands non-Sas or Black Diamond. The BL there are a lot made, so you should find a lot on lots. Downside to the latter two is they're heavy, but IMO the BL non-Sas is the best looking non-Sas and comes with 34" tires. I would think the OBX and Big Bend give the best mpg performance.

Don't worry about 2.7L if you don't care about engine mods; the 2.3L will be fine unless you want that extra turbo. With a FP tune, you'll save $1k and get better performance compared to stock 2.7L.

2023 mid package has an 8" screen. I would highly recommend the High package in a 2023 model. 2024 they all get the 12" screen, but there's no High package anymore. Me, I'd probably go mid in 2024. The Lux is a bit of a rip off in my opinion. ACC would be nice, though.

The lowest price (2024) Bronco you can get with Adaptive Cruise Control will be $53,755 for a soft top Outer Banks if you ordered it. You can probably find a better deal by looking at In-Stock Bronco's sitting on Dealer lots.

I thought it might be good for resale. Based on what I'm seeing with the 2024 models, I don't think I was wrong. But time will tell.

If ya don’t care about off-roading or Sasquatch the obx with lux would be the best highway/everyday driver…and yes the 2.7 does indeed have more power…up to you if ya care...

oh yeah…forgot ford took that away...I guess wildtrack it is…my stripper big bend Sasquatch 2.7 has way more electronic Junk than I want/need…should have kept my original base order…
