Diesels do have alot of ownership cost...but in your list of negatives (which I agree with) there are some really good pros...There is a huge cost to owning a diesel Jeep! The outright cost, just the initial (huge) factor.
Decreased payload by 400Lbs
Constantly having to add DEF at about $40 a fill.
$300 oil changes (yeah, special diesel oil)
Lower fuel capacity than gas Jeep
Not all gas stations carry diesel
Good torque and mileage, sure...
But it'll never pay for itself
DEF is < $13 at walmart and it is supposed to use about $26 worth every 10k but that will bary of course.
Oil changes for the Gen 3 are about $250. Price should come down once aftermarket has Oil Fiters for the Gen 3 engine.
Smaller fuel tank, yes, but unlike the gas version you have a 400+ mile range. So it really doesn't matter.
and torque so much that you can go larger tires without needing to regear which saves about $2k (from what I read).
Trail recon has a couple videos specific to his diesel Wrangler. Worked out to about $325 per 10k miles to maintain IIRC. Meanwhile you are getting 28+ mpg.
