Several aftermarket companies make skid plates that protect the bottom of the rear coilovers. I installed this kit from @JcrOffroad, because they extend up to protect the reservoirs on the Bilsteins.

My ex gets in her car one day, proceeds to back out of the driveway and runs right into my truck. I'm watching the whole thing go down, I walk over and say "honey, did you not see that Nissan Titan parked right behind you"??? She says "oops, you know reverse is not my best gear"!! I never parked behind her again!

Same as the OP, the first time I tried some relatively mild off-roading, when I went to pump the tires back up I noticed fluid on the rear drivers side wheel. Thought it was brake fluid. Nope, the shock reservoir was gone. (2-D Badlands non-Sas). Dealer wouldn’t warranty it, because there were scratches nearby. Can’t blame them, but I can blame Ford for putting the reservoir in such a vulnerable spot. Since the dealer had it, I just let them fix it. Only took 1 day to get the part and fix it, but it was $1500. Looking for shock guards now.
