You're doubting my emotional range!

I have Pimp & Chill mode as well. This mode is only enabled while not stranded on a remote forest service road at 10 pm in Glacier National Park after doing a grueling 16 mile hike because the keypad battery is dead.

Omg you read my mind. Only I was thinking middle of nowhere Alaska. No vehicle, no phone service! Be a pretty view though walking to find a tow truck! ??

We broke the small window of the rear 1/2 door to gain entry. Our trip home was the next day and we taped up the window for the drive. Once home we went straight to Ford and made them replace the window under warranty.

It was about a month before the grizzly bear hibernations started, we had spotted multiple full sized bears on the hike, including one eviscerating a goat, and the threat of bear attack was very high. We only had one can of bear spray and the nearest building that might have services was approximately 30 miles away.

That initiated the second keypad replacement as we had burned through 3 batteries on the second keypad. The first keypad lasted less than 10 days after delivery before the battery died.

How this goes for Bronco folks who are also out in remote areas when their keypads die will most likely play out in the same general fashion. But you did save 2 oz by not having to carry a key, so there is that!

Edit: forgot to mention the first keypad did not have a replaceable battery, you had to replace the entire keypad. The second version of the keypad had replaceable batteries except it simply drained batteries like frat boys at a free-beer event. Our third keypad was supposed to be the TSB-corrected part. Except it has the same part number as the second keypad. The battery that keypad came with lasted about 2 weeks. Still waiting on the actual TSB-corrected part to be made.

Might be made before Bronco production starts! Or not, since the TSB has been out for over a year. Either way, it won't be on my Bronco.

Think I'll just carry the key! My biggest fear would be stranded. In my 36 years so far I've never been stranded on a big road trip and I def don't want to start. That kill my vibe! Especially being in a brand new vehicle.

Nah, not going to bother.

For my use cases like going for a trail run, cycling, etc... I can carry the FOB with me.

When that isn't an option, I'll use this.

The number pad for entry looks so dated and I've alway seen them falling apart on cars that have them.

You sound like someone who has never parked on the beach and hit the surf..?
I have seen more than a few windows busted out at the beach or trail parking area. For the beach I put this under my wetsuit, holds money, credit card, and keys, on the trail I just take my phone, PLS, and keys with me, not a big deal.

Funny story, seeing you are in VT. I was helping replace windows on a ski cabin at Killington this summer and the keys got locked in my father in laws F-150. We had to walk about 2 miles to get service to call in because we couldn’t use the app to unlock the car. Good times lol
Ha - no kidding! Too bad (I am assuming!) you didn’t have the keypad!!! Lots of poor/no cell areas in VT for sure ... I’m in the Burlington Area and there are even spots here - the only thing even resembling City in the state - with no reception. Crazy!!

The B&P version is hardwired to the vehicle. Thus, no battery dependency. That's an advantage of adding it via B&P; however, as I've said before, I like mine hidden. So, I get the battery versions after the purchase and stick it on out-of-plain-sight.
Are they though? Cause even guys who got it from the factory with their Rangers they're stick on. These look exactly like the ranger one and they come out of the same plant.

If they are wired that would be fantastic, still fugly but nice to not worry of battery failure. But until Ford confirms I will assume they're the stick on ones.

Haven't taken the key out of my truck since 2004. That spans 1 F-150 and 2 F-250's. I just hit the code and voila I'm in. Never been locked out. Never lost my keys. Sixteen years of happiness with the Ford keypad.

You push the bottom two numbers when you get out and it locks all doors. Easy peasy.

is keyless entry 4 digits or more? 4 digits seems like a security risk if somebody sees you type it in

You'd think by now they'd have it integrated into the door or B pillar? Personally I think they're ugly AF and look cheap! But if the Bronco has a fuel door like the Ranger you can stick it on the inside of that. Here's one on the Ranger mounted inside the fuel door.

But isn't the gas cap locked when the car is locked?

I've got to assume that with the lux package you can unlock the door just by having the key near it..... right? Without taking key out and pushing any kind of button to.
