Literally none of those “predictions” you point to were ever made by the scientific community at large.

It’s all just propaganda.
Propaganda like these profits of doom who push the climate agenda.

Worlds fine before we came around and will be fine after all of us are long dead, no need for these extreme measures or to believe the scientists who receive their funding from the govt

Definitely an age thing.
Every time it shuts off I flashback to 1968. My 60 Comet dying at a light and no buddies riding with me to either push start or push it off of the road.
Then reset the points to start up again, lol. I did that so often, girls thought I was breaking down just to make out with them,

Guess I’m not following. You posted propaganda. Everything in that post literally never happened lol.

In any case, we are way off thread here.

The system seems to kick on at the most inopportune time. Pull up to a light that suddenly goes green as you stop and delay as it cuts off and comes back. I’ve never had a vehicle it works that great on. I’m in my SQ7 this weekend and It’s 100 plus hades humid here and that system is turning off at the light sometimes. No thanks. I need and want all the AC

isn't the SQ7 an audi w/ a totally vw/audi implementation of ASS?

I've always been uncomfortable with vehicles with Auto Start/Stop. The first time I experienced the "feature" it was somewhat disconcerting having the vehicle stop running at a red light. At first, I fought against it. Although I never fully reprogrammed it out of existence, I'd still generally turn it off each time I'd drive the vehicle. The Bronco version of ASS seems to be a little less aggressive than some of my former vehicles. However, there are still little annoyances such as it turning off the engine as I stop in my driveway, only to immediately turn back on as the transmission is shifted to Park.

But why so much vitriol for a "feature" that is pretty benign. Certain consumers seem to hate this capability. Is it because so many of us from the older generations have been taught that starting/stopping the engine is wasteful or even actually damaging to an engine? Or because we are stubborn and don't like being told what to do by new technology that is often perceived to be imposed on us by the "nanny state"?

Clearly, the new technology and engine tolerances make this capability non-destructive in terms of engine wear and tear. It also, on the whole, leads to some incremental MPG gains.

So why do so many of us still feel angst or discomfort with ASS?
I think you are correct about us being an older generation that was always told to avoid excessive wear and tear on an engine. Plus the auto stop always reminds me of when my older cars sometimes died at a red light. it just brings back bad memories. But I don't really understand the anger of many owners, since the button to turn it off during a trip isn't that hard to get to.

Because it sucks? Is this a trick question?

But the vitriol towards it is completely unwarranted and some of the posts are boarding on unhinged.

Is global warming a thing? Probably, how much is human caused-up for debate, but hey trying to make things better so we don’t affect it as much isn’t a bad thing.

For me, I'm mostly bothered by the fact that I can't default it to always off. I don't like being forced to use that "feature". I also dislike the lurch when the engine is off and I need to get going from a light. I have a bypass to install but I use the Sport mode every day anyway.

No but you're avatar does! Where you at in Maine?
Rockland. I started Broncos of Maine. Haven’t talked much about it. Just a Facebook group at the moment but the website is coming. Hoping to get some traction (no pun intended) with owners and start some events.

I feel it is unwarranted, just like most of the other "fuel saving" items.

I can't stand having anyone "tell me" what I "must have" on a vehicle. That is incredibly ignorant. I do not believe in the fake climate change BS along with a lot more. Rules for thee.....but not for me.

Hopefully in another year or so we will see V-8's rolling off the assembly line with an option to add headers at the factory.
