We had our first big rain storm since I almost wrecked because the Bronco’s windshield wipers were shutting off regardless of the setting. Ford reached out to me on this forum and asked for my VIN.

I’m happy to report that they operated much better. They slowed down on the second to highest setting once, but never did on the highest setting. I feel much safer now.
We shoot give props when they are warranted. Thanks @Ford. Not sure if this was pushed to everyone or just me.

Went back to the parts bin and pulled out a wiper motor from an 80’s Escort. They realized there was no need to redesign something that has worked forever.
Wins internet today.

Was this an over the air update fix?

That would be crazy
That’s the only thing I can think of. I never took it into the dealer. So either it fixed itself or Ford pushed something. It seems like an easy coding fix.

My wipers have worked occasionally, including once, right after in over the air update. ;)

Former ‘87 Escort GT owner, yeah those wiper motors were mighty

They could always use a motor from the F-150.

My wife's F-150 has a recall because the "wiper motor is too strong, and can break the wiper arm".

Not even joking. And of course, Ford doesn't actually have any, so, like the airbag recall, they will "let me know when the parts are available".

Glad you got your issue resolved. Another help for rain is to use Rain-X. It works great. On the X-way I've been able to shut my wipers off the water beads so well. My 2¢.

Can't add anything to the wiper discussion, but also had an '87 Escort GT!!! Bought new in '88 as a "leftover".

After changing a water pump in January on my '79 Bronco in the driveway in upstate NY I had enough with the Bronco, traded it in on the Escort.

The wiper motor isn’t programmable at all, so it definitely wasn’t an OTA update.

They didn't confirm what they did? You're sure it's fixed?
