Would the CURT hitch be closer to the OEM hitch or the draw-tite?

Here are daytime pictures with the gearlocker installed as well. I don’t have an image of it with the gate swung open fully but when it is in the locked position outward I can open the gate fully

It’s the Yakima exo. The only part that isn’t part of it is the drawtite hitch. I included part numbers as well in my original post

How does one calculate a weight limit for this setup?

edit: with that in mind what type of off-road abuse can it handle?

Extensions have their own tongue weight rating but usually it’s half of whatever hitch you’re using according to the shop that assisted me. In my case. Drawtite is 675. The extension cuts it to 337.

Personally, I take the exo off when I go off-roading as I like to rock crawl and I feel it wouldn’t clear if I’m climbing.

E trailer . Com also has bundle packages for the exo. They list the full weight for any setup

I tried this setup this weekend. It did "work", but was far less than ideal. The hitch is really heavy and caused the rear end to sag a fair amount - though I only had it loaded with 4 skis, a snowboard, and the box only had 4 ski boots and poles in it.

I'm still looking for a roof rack to run my rooftop box with, but this works well enough for now.

If you're more interested in putting ski stuff up top, this option might be preferable to the Ford roof rack:
https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/new-roof-rack-option.35724/

Skis and snowboards don't weigh much, and this would keep them close to the roof for less airflow disruption. It would also keep your first two roof rows removable. I have the Ford rack; it carries more, but if your goal is to carry just ski stuff, this might actually be better.

Thanks. I want the skis in a box though. I don't like having my bases/edges exposed to road salt and grime (as they were on the way home this weekend). That rack would mount the box (and any skis) so that they would be hanging off the back and unable to open the rear glass.

I would love to find a Ford rack if I could. Had a dealer cancel my order for one just this morning.

I hear what you're saying about road salt. I continue to have that concern. The thing is, a box won't fit through my garage door while the rack does. And as long as the roads aren't soaked with salt water, not much of it seems to get up that high. But yeah, if you really want to protect your skis, an open rack is not the way to go.

Thats not much weight at all really. I'm skeptical even lightly loaded this thing would survive the fairly severe jostling it takes to get to some of our campsites. My thought was to get the gearbox.
