Honest question…How does safelite replace a windshield in under 2hrs but it takes 3 days under this recall? (Explain it to me like I’m 5)

The hell, I was built and shipped like 6/9 (still not delivered) and never got a picture. Ford is the biggest mixed bag ever on a consistent experience.

Yea I’m not buying multiple days downtime for a windshield replacement. Windshields are swapped out in a single day. The urethane can be cleaned and the frame primed in under an hour.

Also, I have a crack in the corner of my windshield right now. I wonder how that factors in.

I tried to warn everyone early reserving and buying these year 1/2 Broncos what happens to Guinee pigs that buy Brand new vehicles...

Imagine thinking Ford will fix an issue and not reintroduce another...

No one is getting a free windshield. They’re removing your windshield replacing the adhesive then putting your window back.

Windshields often crack when they’re removed.

if the windshield is chipped or cracked already are they going to put that same glass back in? What if they can't get it out without making it worse?

1) you have to take it to your dealer (who may not even have a body shop on site and therefore may have to sublet it out to a collision center).
2)then they have to have a 3rd party glass vendor come out and remove your windshield (hopefully in 1 piece)
3)the now windshield-less vehicle goes into the body shop for urethane removal, grinding/prep, and primer PAINTING
4) the primer has to dry
5) the glass shop has to come back on site and reinstall the windshield with new urethane sealer
6) the vehicle now has to have any cameras/windshield mounted sensors recalibrated. in some cases this means going into the service department at the dealer. Meaning that a 3rd set of hands in addition to the glass guys and the body shop may now have to touch the vehicle.

good luck getting all of that done in a few hours or even one day. not impossible, but pretty unlikely. keep in mind that all of the parties above would have to work in unison and that they each have other customers to attend to on different schedules.

BTW, this recall is not about REPLACING your windshield. it's about improving the adhesion or mechanical bond between the urethane windshield "glue" and the paint underneath.

doesn't sound like a new vehicle issue.
