Remember that Jeep came from “GP” or general purpose vehicle which is now known as an SUV. My boss call’s my Sport a Jeep! No big deal, it’s better than calling it a Prius.

Ford GP / GPW (Government Pygmy) Pronounced Gee-Pee which sounds like JEEP. I never heard of the General Purpose Abbreviation before. I learned something new today, thank you.

Then me trying to explain that the Land Rover brand makes several models of vehicles that includes the Discovery, Range Rover, Defender, etc, like Ford makes a Mustang and and F150…

The correct response is:

A. "Thank you!"

B. "It's not a Jeep."

C. Walk away while shaking your head from side to side in a frustrated manner while swearing quietly to yourself under your breath.

D. Both A & B are correct answers.

I used to have people tell me “nice Jeep” all the time when I had my FJ40. i rarely heard anyone call it a land cruiser. I got the Jeep wave constantly too.
I always just said thank you. I never corrected anyone, never felt the need.

Heck, I called it a Jeep too, way easier to say.

Broncos look nothing like a Jeep but i think with the top off, an off road looking vehicle instantly falls under the Jeep label for a lot of folks. Fine with me, I love jeeps too.…I’d just rather have a bronco.

Wow….. As a born in 1951 Marine Corps brat, I hope you can appreciate that I cannot consider a Toyota 4X4 a ”JEEP”. No offense as to their WORLD WIDE viability, reliability, and popularity (been all over the world in them). But don’t call or even think it’s a fucking JEEP.

EDIT: Yup, I’m biased.
