Took my Bronco (Badlands, 2.7) to Silver Lake ORV Area in MI last week and spent a couple of hours tooling around the dunes. It was our first time on the dunes, I didn't baby it out there but also didn't do anything crazy that would land me on YouTube. Kept it in sand mode the entire time, had plenty of power, handled great, didn't get stuck. Overall, my family had a great time!

Made it about 80 miles down the road when this fault popped up on the dash. Was running fine on the way home up until then. No strange noises, temp levels normal, no noticeable leaks or anything. Next thing I knew, the engine stopped and we coasted to a halt on the side of the highway. Tried starting it a few times after letting it rest, but it would not even attempt to turn over, just kept displaying this error and the "Service Advancetrac" fault. All interior electronics were working fine, but ended up having to get it towed to the dealer.

It's still being diagnosed, but dealer mentioned a lot of sand underneath and that I might need to file a claim with my insurance which took me by surprise. Am I out of line thinking it should have been able to handle a trip to the dunes?

Hoping it's just a bad sensor or something minor. Love my Bronco but can't help feeling disappointed that it didn't make it back from it's first trip off-road.

I’m real sorry this happened to you, after all the waiting, and the eventual joy of ownership. I’ve been a loyal Ford customer since 1979, owning at least 9 Fords in these 42 years. But honestly, anymore they’re just pissing me off. One shit storm after another.

What makes you say that? The different goat modes are accompanied by unique color schemes and bronco logo in the top left of the screen. Blue with the bronco is normal mode. Sand mode is sand colored with a different icon in the top left.

Might be same or similar issue or not but, I received an error code on the Bronco that was loaned for the Off-Roadeo in Austin.

OffRoadeo was light off-roading and I got an message of Overheated brakes ABS disable or something like that after using Trail Control on one of the hill descents, the trail guides told me it was an electrical bug/issue that they have experimenting on several of the preproduction vehicles.
No loss of power and the car turned on but continued to show the message.
They wrote a message on the window of the car for the mechanics to take a look after the event.

Is this the thread where we ask for a GOAT mode delete option?

In a seriousness, that sucks and I do hope it is a simple fix.

I bet there are a lot of edited video of errors like this that people have omitted as "preproduction issues". Can't use that excuse now.

Maybe a call to daddy Ford and have them pull the dealer card for those clowns you bought it from. Funny how they can't diagnose the problem but know enough to say that it's not their responsibility. That's because there's no money to be made off of warranty work... I bet we'll all see issues like this with dealers.

I really hope it doesn’t need to come to that. FWIW, the dealer I purchased from has been fantastic thoroughout the entire process and I’d like to give the dealer doing the service time to investigate and resolve.

Maybe try disconnecting battery for 15 minutes or so, it might reset.

Good idea make an offroad vehicle super complicated and electronics heavy, goes over any terrain except sand .

Some questions you might want to prep for prior to filing your insurance claim…..

Were you exceeding the sand limit when you ran over the sand in Your vehicle?

Was the sand moving when you struck it?

Was the sand you struck regular sand or quick sand? If it was quick sand, exactly how quick was it?

Was any wax involved?

Did the sand provoke you before you intentionally ran over it with your 5,000lb vehicle?

Did you notify the authorities after striking said sand with your vehicle?

Do you like sandwiches?

Do you own a sand wedge?

Are you, or have you even been a member of the Nicaraguan Socialist group, the Sandinistas?

Whats the first thing that comes to mind when I say Sandy Kofax?

Hope this helps OP

A thread to follow... and a couple others.

I like the looks and extra space, had jeeps pretty much forever and I'v been leaning to the Bronco.

One of the big reasons to ditch jeep... customer service has always been a bad bad experience for me
