We love Broncos but… what’s the most annoying “small issue” with your Bronco?

*Thanks to the deficient engine braking on the 2.3. My Bronco has the worse ratio of vehicle weight to engine displacement of any vehicle I've owned.
Not a fan of downshifting on a decline and speeding up?

I had issues with the rear window squeaking against the tailgate when driving off road for the first year or two. I put a small towel in the gap when I got to the dirt, which stopped it. But after a few years it doesn't do that anymore. But I've also worn the paint off of the top edge where it contacts the rubber part of the back window, so that's a minor annoyance. At least it's aluminum, so no rust issues.

Nope. Engine braking while on mountain grades (including highways) was one reason I wanted a stick. Sure, autos these days have locking torque converters for engine braking, but only for the lowest gears. Even so, the stick still needs less braking than an auto would. I haven't tried serious engine braking on the trail yet, but I suspect the crawl gear will be useful for that purpose.

For me, it would be the occasional brain fart the 360 cameras have, where the feed is blank. And I guess the other is that the B&O sound system in the Lux trim is B&O by name only😂
I put kilmat around mine and the system is now what i expected from it.

Yep, parking brake=useless
key fob panic alarm - fixed with forscan
windows rattle/don’t seal/get caught opening=poor design
Top air & water leaks= poor design
I can live with that stuff…losing lockers on a tough trail and limping out because of some computer glitch nanny is totally unacceptable…give me real levers and switches!!

3 window cracks (an issue with mine, my wife's and my F-150)
The compass is somewhere between 45 and 90 degrees wrong.
Window rattle
Location of the headlight controls - I hit it with my knee often (same in my F-150) - And what's with so many headlight settings? You only need on/off, low/high. (same in the F-150)
Sync issues - about 30% of the time my phone won't connect

Other than that, I love it!!

My biggest bitch is the lack of floor heat.

And I have the hideous '21-22 instrument cluster.

The automatic works amazingly well at engine braking because it has so many gears to choose from. Going down a 10-degree slope, first or second gear in 4L provides sufficient engine braking to not need the additional use of the brakes.

It's a mile and a half of ten degree downhill to get down from this hill:

That aftermarket companies focus hard on 4 doors. I mean...I get it...there are more of them. But sheesh...I'd like some upgrades and accessories too.

Not talking major problems – just the stuff that slowly gets under your skin over time.

Could be:
  • windshield chips
  • Interior rattles
  • Road noise
  • Something random you didn’t expect
Curious what’s been the most annoying “little thing” for you so far.
Zero gripes with my three Broncos.

My gripe is with the poor Bronco brand stewardship, the horrendously bad choices that have been made.
Why do I care? For one, the true potential for Bronco is far above the lackluster showing before us.
( I speak as an industry alumni)

On my FOURTH windshield.

That my wife's phone apparently is the preferred phone. She can be in the house when I start up and it still connects to her's first over mine. Why we can't have the ability to pick a primary phone like most other vehicles I don't understand.

I'm definitely in agreement with the double honk when you get out and close the door with the engine running. Super annoying!

2nd annoying thing would be the car alarm randomly going off after locking the vehicle.

Other than that, I'm very happy with my Bronco.

I did enough research that I was well aware of common issues. My main gripe that bothers me on a daily basis is the location of the electronic parking brake switch. They could have placed a button anywhere on the dash or console like nearly every other vehicle today but they decided to put it in a spot that's out of sight and requires you to reach down near your knee. Clearly the people responsible for this are drivers that strictly drive automatics and are oblivious to the fact that parking pawl is not an adequate means of holding the vehicle on inclines/declines.
On the topic of the parking brake, the thing that gets me is that most every other vehicle is a "pull to release, and press to engage". I'm a bit slow to adapt, but even after 3 years, I'm still jumping in and "pulling" to release my brake. But once I sort that out, it's smiles for miles! 😁

That the stupid “would you like to return to Sport mode” option on startup is .5 seconds long.
