I didn't really want a 6Cyl. in a vehicle and for sure not a 4Cyl. but after all the online talk about the performance and reliability the 2.7 has to offer I went along with it and to be honest I really enjoy everything about my Bronco and its capabilities, but now I really hate worrying about where, when and if this is going to happen to my Bronco and when it does how long will I have to wait to get it repaired and then another Break-in period and after that will I be able to forget all of this or will there be more waiting/worrying?
All my life I've been that guy that say's don't ever buy the first year of a new model and been jealous of those who drive around in their new model way before I do.
I really hope Ford makes this right for us all and the reputation of the 2021 Bronco's we currently own.

This can't be high on Ford's priority list...what with worrying about their cash-cow F150 & fretting about their survival in the EV arena. At least they SHOULD have anxiety about surviving - if this is the best they can do with a long-in-the-tooth ICE engine, I'd be shitting my pants driving their ALL-NEW powertrain/drivetrain EV made in their ALL-NEW plant.

Well, I got my offer from Vroom,
edit: maybe gonna take it.
The offer is about $5k over msrp, but after the taxes I paid and the ceramic coating (lol) I'll only make about a grand...can't decide if it's worth it.
I'm surprised it's only 5K above MSRP. Honestly I can't see how that can even cover your taxes, because I know I'm going to be paying 5 to 6 k additionally out the door.

It's a very hard call. You have to feel like you can depend on your vehicle, especially if you're going to take it on road trips or off-roading.

There's always the extended warranties to protect your investment, but like others have said, a warranty doesn't help you when your stranded.

If I'm being honest, right now my dealer called me and said my Bronco has been delivered, I'm not quite sure what I do. I think I'd be tempted to find out how much they would pay me to walk.

Two days ago I noticed a burning smell while driving. Kind of smells like bbq or wood burning inside the cabin. I have had my bronco 3 wks (after being stuck in production for 3 months), it’s has a little over 700 miles on it. Unfortunately I looked up my engine and it falls within the dates you have listed. Calling the service department tomorrow to hopefully figure out what’s going on. Anyone else smell a burning while driving before the engine failures? It’s not constant, it comes and goes but it is very noticeable.
There's a thread somewhere about someone having a burning smell with the HVAC. May have some info for you, I don't know.

Let me just say that my day 319 2.7 is one of the smoothest running, quietest motors I’ve ever experienced. 1600 miles. When stopped at lights I have to double check that ASS isn’t engaged cause I can’t hear it.
Mine is the same way way my engine build date is nov 15 and it is super quiet I have just over 900 miles on mine so far so good

Could be oils burning off or coating on the exhaust if it’s brand new I wouldn’t worry

I have 21209 w/5500 miles. Many off-road.

No issues yet except a hesitation hitting at certain low speed shifts that I cannot replicate at will.

Although concerning, not going to worry about it. My Bronco replaced my 2004 F150 w/Triton engine. It has 160k miles on original plugs. I gave my truck to my 17 year old. He came home in it from the hospital when he was born so seemed appropriate.
Great to see a fellow 209er on here with no issues. I'm just under 4,000 miles and have had a little anxiety since seeing 3 motors going from the same day.

If Ford is trying to 'brand' Bronco into it's own product line, then it should be very high on their priority list.

But Ford has real problems; stock earnings, chip shortages, and on-going reliability issues. This is another one they cant afford.

My engine was born on 11/18. Just shy of 2600 miles. Gone off road / obstacle courses, highway to 85, commuter stop and go, etc - running like a champ.

It is a bit odd that supposedly its a bad batch of valves, and yet it seems the same cylinders are the ones that keep going out. In addition we know that they've changed heads. I mean I don't know how the assembly line works, but I would think there is a pretty random chance on which cylinders of bad valve would end up in.

I'm curious as to when we're going to start seeing 2022 engines. We're getting close to the end of 21 Julian dates.

I really hope they have this figured out soon. I originally ordered a 2.3 but changed it to a 2.7. Granted I just put my order in at the end of Jan. for a 22 so it will be a long time before my engine is built.

Good catch - in this MT article you can see the author Justin Banner is trying to help us here - he's coaching us -

A) what really matters is getting these blown engines filed w NHTSA

B) until they're filed w NHTSA, we're just spinning our wheels here in B6g

C) until they're filed w NHTSA, no one will pay attention

MotorTrend article by Justin Banner - 4 February '22

-- ". . . if you have experienced a failure on your 2.7L V6 Bronco . . . be sure to report it to the NHTSA through their Report A Safety Problem link on the top of their website."

-- "So far, only two reports of failures have been posted on the NHTSA website, but both are for the 2.7 V-6."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As mentioned Friday, we're getting ready to contact all the B6g members in OP list, and ask them to file a complaint w NHTSA
Here's the Draft Letter . . . . . . . Comments ?
Hello xxxxxx @xxxxx -
Here in B6g we're contacting members who've had 2.7L blown engines, asking them to file a complaint w NHTSA -
- it's hard to believe, but today they have only two NHTSA complaints re Bronco 2.7L - Which badly mis-represents the hundreds of failures nationwide -
Ford needs to start a 'Recall' (or 'Replacement Campaign') to install new head assemblies - to replace bad valves & other parts -
Complaints to NHTSA are the best way to motivate Ford -
NHTSA Complaints get a lot more attention from the press & other venues -
As you know, these blown engines are big worry to thousands of owners still driving 2.7's with maybe defective parts - maybe blown engine any day. The best way to help them is motivate Ford to start a Replacement Campaign -
Recently Ford confirmed the problems w bad valves - Lima Plant Newsletter
-- "Nano valve supplier issue was resolved with more robust design and material changes at the supplier."
Recently Ford changed the part#'s for the entire head assemblies -
A Replacement Campaign could also extend to your new 2.7L engine -
From an informed Ford source -
-- "At this point, the simplest and least costly option is to build a ton of the new head assemblies, then issue a Replacement Campaign for the affected owners. It will be a whole lot cheaper in total repair cost and rental . . . "
As a 2.7L blown engine survivor, your voice to NHTSA can make a huge difference -
Regards,
xxxxxx - B6g member @xxxxx
Blown 2.7L ebds - 2mo Contain - 2022.Feb.04.webp
UPDATE :
These Letters to the 2.7L survivors in OP list, recommending they file w NHTSA -
- Friday we started working this (@VictoryLights , @geoking , & myself)
- yesterday we got em all sent - 25 total - including one over in BN
- yesterday @blanchardsbronco posted filed his yesterday
- @VictoryLights got some responses from others
- turns out the two existing complaints listed @ NHTSA are both people from our B6g list in OP, already filed earlier
- we hope to make it two-dozen, instead of just two
- and the MotorTrend article will encourage others outside B6g to file
