We're old and always have owned at least one manual shift car. Currently have a 2012 Focus hatch with a manual. At a stop I keep the car in gear and depress the clutch. Must be a long time habit .

I also do a lot of urban bicycling where it's really evident how many times a vehicle with stop / start is constantly stop / starting as the driver negotiates heavy traffic.

Personally I could definitely do without it. I was hoping that it wouldn't be included on the Bronco.
All the more reason to get a manual. Even though I was considering the V6 / 10 spd.

My '19 Ranger has it. There is a button to turn it off but you have to press it each time you start the vehicle. Other work-arounds is they make a dummy plug for one of the 12v....with something plugged in it will disable auto start/stop. Worse can you can just ForScan the computer and remove it that way.

I have it in my 17 F150 (and permanently disabled it using Forscan) and I can confirm that it can be permanently disabled in Jeeps (wife has a 18 GC trail hawk and its disabled using the Z Automotive Tazer).

To provide a little background info - start/stop helps the automaker achieve better EPA MPG numbers. But the fuel economy achieved with start/stop can only count if start/stop defaults to being turned on every time the vehicle turns on. This incentivizes automakers to make it so you have to manually turn it off each time you start your vehicle. If they let you turn it off and keep it off, they can't advertise mpg numbers with start/stop enabled.

If you're handy, though, you can usually find a way to keep it turned off even if that option isn't offered by default.

Just wondering if anyone has seen this or heard if the bronco will have this feature? I know most Fords and new cars do but it’s very annoying imo. I always turn it off.

Doubt it is on the manual. I have yet to see a auto start stop on a manual personally. May be out there somewhere but think there would be to much liability if something happened.
I have it on my 2016 M3 manual. There is a disable button next to the push button ignition that enables or disables and it remembers the last setting. Also had it on my Focus RS. Same functionality as the M3.

Yup manuals have it and it actually works better than it does on an auto. Car stays running in gear. It'll shut off if you pop into neutral and release the clutch. Car fires back up the moment you start to press the clutch so it goes from almost no wait time with an automatic to literally zero wait time with a manual.

I have it in both my RS and my '19 F150 work truck. I don't understand why everyone complains so much about it. You barely even notice it and can turn it off in half a second with a button.

That does sound a lot better than with automatics.

I've never had it in a manual, but if it only shuts off in neutral with clutch out and starts as soon as clutch is engaged, plus with the ability to disable altogether, sounds doable.

What's the lifespan of a starter on these type vehicles?
