Axle Ratio

Hey guys, I was wondering if I should be riding a different axle on my Bronco if I decide to off-road which I do. I got a 2 dr Outerbanks non-sas with 35in tires on it. Wanted to know if I should change the axle and if so which after market is good. I’m new to this come from pure sports cars lol. Thanks

He's an OBX so it's a*tomatically a*tomatic. There will be a big difference if he got the optional rear locker though (3.73 vs 4.29). @Atoledo95?

I see, didn't realize obx was auto only. Yeah I wouldn't want 35" with 3.73

We have an OBX with 35’s with the 4.27 locking rear does just find off road. The advanced transfer case also has a lower gear ratio and that helps off road too.
min thinking of 37’s for mine and might want to regear for them but more for on road performance.

You'll be fine with any possible factory gear ratio. 3.73 Gearing with larger tires will be most noticeable at higher highway speeds especially on grades as you won't have the power. Low speed off-roading, gearing is mostly noticeable in 4L super low speed crawling scenarios. Is another gearset more ideal then 3.73's for your setup? Yes. Would I spend $2000+ to re-gear? Absolutely not.

Going through the dirt occasional going over rocks. Maybe in a he sand as well. For areas such as Joshua Tree or Big Bear.

Does Ford put a 35" tire on any bronco with less than 4.70? Nope and the "35" inch" Goodyears that come with the Sasquatch are really 33.4" lol. Not saying that it will or won't work, just stating what Ford does and why. My daughter's JK we bought used, the previous owner put a lift and 35" heavy E rated tires on it but never regeared it from the 3.21 gears. That's the first thing we did when we got home. It was a weekend well spent and she got to learn how to setup gears lol. 4.56 did the trick and it's fun to drive now.
