Agree at any given time they will rip the crap out of your car if they smell something, not recommending it, however the only car that had any damage was a local who left food wrappers in his work truck, the others had no damage where he opened their doors. I have my neighbors on camera, he spend about 10 seconds in the car and left.

With a soft top though in any place that has bears, not sure what best course would be. One of the thicker vehicle covers to help with possible smell of food... They would rip it up but maybe you hear it at night before he gets to the car.
If I wasn’t lazy, this would have never happened. These are the motion detectors I put up on my property that will alert me to any bears or people coming onto it. They are pretty much full proof if you don’t ignore them like I did. Once they go off, especially the driveway where my Bronco is, I need to physically check and let my dog out to scare them away. My dog is stuck at a deck gate and can’t get to the bear.

I’m sure I won’t be the last soft top Bronco a bear gets into. These can be used for camping too. Worth the money.

The joke’s on him, though, since my Bronco is being serviced at my local dealer. 😜

He just needed a wiff of the new car smell, new cars not so plentiful nowā€¦šŸ¤£

I like the Guardline alarms, they work great on my driveway and property. They have some that are 1/4 mile range too. You can set different melody for different areas of coverage, so you know where to look.

damn, hope it's an easy fix, or at least can be fixed good enough until you can get a replacement when needed.
Definitely a concern up there, I'll be at Fallen Leaf last week of July and plan to drive up trails and park and hike or maybe even camp, better stock up on pinesol! I won't have any food in the truck, but always wonder if they can smell that food was in there before.

Hard top won't be a deterrence either, I've seen video of bears peeling car doors open as if they're made of paper, bear wants in, bear gets in.

Those driveway alarms are interesting, could use those at my house too, page bookmarked.

Haha! Thinking anything for these will be an easy fix at the dealer!! And then wow where there snacks or any kinda food in the Bronco or just a curious Bear?
No easy fix apparently. I took it to dealership today. I think they don’t want to try to fix it because they are not trained to do so. $4,000+ to replace, plus 4 hour install @ $155 an hour. Insurance claim coming!

I’m thinking of taking the money and applying it towards advanced fiberglass concept hard top. Also the scratches on two doors went to the primer, so that will have to be a claim too.

Bummer for sure. There are some soft tops in here for sale for less than that. And the bestop option for a lot less.

Well, I thought this might happen! Living in Lake Tahoe without a garage I figured the snow, or a bear might damage the top. Last night the motion sensor at top of the driveway went off three different times. Each time I checked the camera I saw no bear next to my Bronco, only a bear walking out of camera view, which is normal.

This morning I saw the left rear top open just like in the picture. I took another picture of the good side that is not damaged and of puncture marks on the top. He tried all four door handles too and left scratches on the front passenger door. I actually feel lucky that he didn’t shred the top or bust the handle. Looks like the spring at the end of the top popped out along with the cable that attaches to it. Easy fix or replacement of that spring at the dealer I assume. The puncture marks will stay, I had some in my middle console from another bear incident in my 2013 Explorer. Now I have a camera facing the blind spot where the bear was working on last night.

Well, that is one way to get a hard top, lol. Curious as to where your house is, I am on Tahoe Vista Drive. I have seen bears try my neighbors car doors and a garage door. Luckily my Outer Banks with a soft top is in the garage. My wife's Audi Q7 got botted to the driveway. She is not happy! One good thing about this thread is there are more Bronco owner in SLT than I thought. We may have to set a meet up this summer.

I’m in Meyers on Iroquois Cir. Not a bad idea to setup a meet!

I’m actually going to have to build a fence at the end of the driveway now and section off the end of my driveway, and a piece of my property. My dog learned he can leap off our second story deck and land 5 feet down on a hill and chase 300 lbs bear up a tree. Not good, but at least my Bronco will be behind a fence and gate now.

A fence will help but if they want in they will climb right over it. I was gone all week and my wife saw a bear nearly every day. One of them was in the our yard, got that one on camera. I could hear him coming over the fence from next door. Have you taken your Bronco on any trials up here? I would like to do some light off-roading but I am not sure where to go.
