We really have reached full jump the shark mode on analyzing the Bronco! These are things I probably wouldn't see if I bought the thing in person.

I honestly envy our community's attention to detail!
I feel like I know this vehicle inside and out and agree with your comment. This community is awesome and I learn something new every day!

To stop someone from opening the hood without using the inside hood release.

Agreed. Badlands grill hides it pretty good.

IMO the big bend grill is a pretty bad design. It shows not only that plastic panel so clearly, but every other random plastic bit behind there too.

But I don't were going to see any change at this point. That's likely the production look.
I’ll trade anybody my crappy looking badlands grille for a Big Bend

Found this over at Bronco Nation. Looks like we have a winner. It’s the hood latch. Still not sure why it’s so large, but now we know.

The less actual grill opening a vehicle has, the better its aerodynamics. But styling trends are towards big openings. So we are seeing more "fake" openings.

The Explorer is a perfect example of this.

Christ, why not throw on some fake hood scoops and fender vents while they're at it..

Rusty - EVERYONE is doing it. Ford just did a crappy job of hiding it. Do you think a Lexus, Audi, or BMW or even a diesel F250 or F350 needs a grill that huge? Not a chance.
